This column is a mid-week review of the most relevant fantasy baseball nuggets and trends. There won’t be a standard format, yet the goal will be to keep you informed about the fluidity of playing time, batting orders, rotations and bullpens to help guide fantasy lineup and roster decision-making.

This week, let’s check in on offenses in the American League East and Central. But first, a few National League notes:

The Dodgers finally cut ties with veteran backup catcher Austin Barnes and promoted their second-ranked prospect, Dalton Rushing. Rushing is a strong defensive backstop and should be an above-average hitting catcher in the majors. He rocked a 14% walk rate in the minors (15.9% in Triple-A this season). Per manager Dave Roberts, Rushing will play a game per series. Despite a minimal role, expect him to be added in all NFBC Main Events leagues this Sunday.

Roki Sasaki was placed on the IL due to right shoulder impingement and will be shut down from throwing for now. He is very likely going to miss more than the minimum 15 days. Ben Casparius and Jack Dreyer haven’t pitched since Sunday and both could pitch a few innings in Thursday’s contest with the Athletics. Clayton Kershaw will be activated to make his 2025 debut Saturday for the Freeway Series against the Angels.

With the Milwaukee Brewers playing 13 straight days starting this Friday, Jose Quintana (shoulder) going on IL and Brandon Woodruff (ankle) not yet being reinstated, rookie right-hander Logan Henderson should stick around the rotation for a couple of turns. Henderson earned his second win on Wednesday in as many MLB starts as he punched out seven in five innings. His next start should come next at home against the Orioles next Tuesday or Wednesday. He is only available in 7% of NFBC Main Events.
