Welcome to a Championship Friday edition of MLB Best Bets! Tonight, we’ll be previewing Game 4 of the National League Championship Series between the Philadelphia Phillies and Arizona Diamondbacks.
Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Philadelphia Phillies
The D-backs clawed their way back into the series with a dramatic walkoff win courtesy of Ketel Marte last night. Marte has been everything for the Arizona offense through the first three games and has racked up nine total bases. In Game 4, the Phillies will be starting young left-hander Christopher Sanchez. They’ve only faced off once thus far with Marte getting the best of that duel by hitting a double.
In Arizona, Marte has been great for the D-backs with a .303 average, 11 HR, and 35 RBIs compared to only a .250 average in road games. He’s cleared at least two total bases in six of his last eight, including the playoffs. We’ll look for him to continue to lead this young Arizona lineup at the plate as they try to even things up with the red-hot Phillies.
Looking on the Philadelphia side of things, no one has been hotter or more consistent for this lineup than shortstop Trea Turner. Turner has had at least one hit in 23 of his last 30 games. Across that stretch, he has posted a .325 AVG with 11 HR and 27 RBIs. He’s carried that momentum into the postseason with a .471 AVG and a 1.408 OPS. Turner matches up with LHP Joe Mantiply, who’s opening for Arizona. They’ve faced off four times, and Turner has dominated the matchup with three hits.
