Opening day of the 2022 MLB season is Thursday, and at FTN Bets, we are taking a look at the win total odds for each MLB team. According to DraftKings Sportsbook, The Los Angeles Dodgers have the highest projected win total in all of the big leagues. On the flip side, the Baltimore Orioles have the lowest win total odds of any team in baseball.
Let’s take a look at win total odds for the American and National League:
Who has the Highest Total Win Projection in the American League?
Here are the projected win totals for each American League team, per DraftKings Sportsbook.

The AL East has four of the top six teams in projected win totals this season. Appropriately, the fifth team in the AL East, the Orioles, has the worst win total projection in all of baseball. The White Sox have the highest win total in the AL Central while the Astros have the highest projected win total in the AL West.
Best Win Total Bets for the American League
Tampa Bay Rays
Under 89.5 wins
The Rays play in arguably the toughest division in all of baseball. In order to hit the over of 89.5 games, the Rays need to have a winning record in their division. Given how strong the AL East is, I do not anticipate the Rays winning enough divisional games to hit over 89.5 games.
The Rays finished in first place in the AL East last season and won 100 games. However, this offseason the Rays lost Austin Meadows and Joey Wendle, two players who played quality innings for the team last year. Tampa will also be without ace Tyler Glasnow for most of the season and is relying on the breakout of top prospect Wander Franco. The road to winning 90 games for the Rays seems to be too difficult.
Boston Red Sox
Over 85.5 wins
Another reason I think the Rays do not win more than 89.5 games is that I think the Red Sox are slated for a monster season. I like Boston to go over 85.5 wins, and I think Boston can capture the AL East title this season.
This offseason, Boston added top free agent Trevor Story to an already deep, and effective, lineup. Last season, the Red Sox finished third in the majors in batting average, third in hits and 19th in home runs, and their lineup should be even better this season.
The Red Sox certainly would benefit from an influx of pitching talent in both their bullpen and rotation, but for now, I think Boston can mash their way to winning more than 85 games this season.

The Los Angeles Dodgers have built a juggernaut, and oddsmakers have given them the highest project win total in all of baseball. The reigning World Series Champions Atlanta Braves have the second-highest projected win total in the NL. The Brewers have the highest projected win total in the NL Central while the Pirates have the lowest win total odds in the entire National League.
Best Win Total Bets for the National League
Milwaukee Brewers
Over 89.5 wins
Milwaukee took home the NL Central crown last season, and I believe they are poised for another postseason run in 2022. The NL Central is the weakest division in the National League, and the Brewers are the most talented team in their division.
After a 95-win campaign in 2021, Milwaukee did a great job of adding more talent to their already deep roster. Milwaukee had one of the best pitching staffs in baseball last season, but the Brewers were held back by their offense. Adding Hunter Renfroe will certainly help the Brewers lineup, and I think they reach 90 wins this season.
New York Mets
Over 88.5 wins
Losing Jacob deGrom to start the season is a huge blow for the Mets. However, New York did a great job adding depth to the rotation this offseason to keep the team afloat until deGrom is healthy. Max Scherzer and Chris Bassitt were fantastic offseason additions that should give the Mets one of the best rotations in baseball.
The NL East is a top-heavy division. with the Mets, Phillies and Braves all good enough to play October baseball. I expect the Mets to finally step a step forward this season under new manager Buck Showalter.
