Luis Torrens Still Out On Tuesday

New York Mets catcher Luis Torrens (forearm) remains out of the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the division-rival Miami Marlins at Citi Field. Hayden Senger will do the catching again for right-hander Clay Holmes and will bat ninth against Marlins right-hander Connor Gillispie. This will be Senger's fourth straight start behind the dish for the Mets after Torrens suffered a bruised right forearm last week. In his first seven MLB games, Senger has gone 2-for-11 with a double, a walk and three strikeouts, so he won't be a recommended DFS sleeper at the catcher position on Tuesday. As of now, it doesn't look like the 28-year-old Torrens is headed to the injured list, but that could change if he's unable to get back in there by the weekend. When healthy, Torrens has served as the Mets' starting catcher with Francisco Alvarez (hand) on the shelf.

Luis Torrens Remains Out With Forearm Injury

New York Mets catcher Luis Torrens (forearm) will remain out of the starting nine on Sunday when the Mets conclude a series against the Toronto Blue Jays. Torrens was a late scratch on Saturday evening and will remain sidelined for the series finale. The Mets will instead give catching duties to Hayden Senger for the second-straight contest. Fantasy managers should monitor Torrens' status leading up to their next game against the Marlins on Monday evening. With Francisco Alvarez (hand) on the injured list, Torrens has opened the campaign as the primary backstop in Queens. Through his first eight games of the season, Torrens has held a .300/.333/.550 slash line with one home run and two doubles. Senger is not worth targeting in DFS this afternoon, facing Bowden Francis.

Luis Torrens Dealing With Bruised Forearm

New York Mets catcher Luis Torrens (forearm) was scratched from Saturday's lineup against the visiting Toronto Blue Jays at Citi Field, and the team is saying he's dealing with a bruised right forearm. Hayden Senger got the start behind the dish with Torrens injured and went 0-for-2 at the plate with a strikeout. However, the 28-year-old Torrens entered the game late as a pinch-hitter and picked up a base hit, so his injury must not be all that serious. It's good news, but it still wouldn't be a surprise to see the Mets hold Torrens out of the starting lineup for Sunday's series finale against Toronto. Based on the fact that the Venezuelan was able to pinch-hit, he should be ready to go for the start of next series on Monday at home against the division-rival Miami Marlins. Torrens came into Saturday's game with five hits in his first 19 at-bats of the year with a homer and two RBI as the primary catcher with Francisco Alvarez (hand) on the injured list.
