Jonathan Cannon Strikes Out Five In Win

Jonathan Cannon earned the win in Saturday's 10-3 victory over the Athletics, allowing three earned runs in seven-and-two-thirds innings on six hits and two walks while striking out five. It was Cannon's first win of the season, now the owner of a 1-3 record, 4.50 ERA, 1.44 WHIP, and a 7.0 percent K-BB%. The 24-year-old has a career ERA of 4.49, a WHIP of 1.35, and a 6.79 K/9. That, combined with pitching for the White Sox, means wins may come few and far between for the righty, and good performances like Saturday's will be hard to forecast (the A's were heavy favorites in this one), so Cannon isn't an appealing streamer or DFS option despite Saturday's effort.

Jonathan Cannon Turns In Quality Start

Chicago White Sox right-handed starter Jonathan Cannon logged a quality start against the Kansas City Royals on Tuesday, giving up one earned run on one hit with three walks and two strikeouts. Cannon was extremely effective in his 94-pitch outing. He lowered his ERA to 4.11 in 13 games (11 starts). He has just 46 strikeouts in 70 innings, making him a bit of a risky option for fantasy managers. This start is a great sign, but the 24-year-old will need to show more consistency and strikeout potential to be a good fantasy option.

Jonathan Cannon To Start On Saturday

Chicago White Sox rookie right-hander Jonathan Cannon will make his return to the big leagues and start on Saturday against the division-rival Royals in Kansas City. Cannon made his first 10 big-league appearances (eight starts) for the Pale Hose in the first half and went 1-3 with a 4.41 ERA (4.18 FIP) and 1.31 WHIP with 39 strikeouts and 13 walks in 51 innings pitched. The 23-year-old former third-round pick in 2022 out of Georgia gave up four earned runs in six innings in his last outing as a bulk reliever last Friday against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Cannon's last start was a quality start on July 7 against the Marlins, when he went six innings while giving up an earned run with four walks and three K's. He'll be making at least two starts in Chicago's rotation to open up the second half of the season, but he'll need to pitch well to stick around. Cannon gave up just one run in five innings in his MLB debut against KC on April 17, but this Saturday will be a matchup to avoid.
