Mark Canha Sitting Out On Friday

Detroit Tigers outfielder/first baseman Mark Canha is out of the starting lineup ahead of Friday's game against the Cincinnati Reds. The veteran slugger will take a seat for the second time in the last three games. Possibly, Canha is dealing with a minor injury but he hasn't been great with the bat anyway. Gio Urshela will start at first base while Riley Greene and Parker Meadows cover the corner outfield spots on Friday.

Mark Canha Returns To Sunday's Lineup

Detroit Tigers outfielder Mark Canha (hip) is back in the starting lineup on Sunday against the Boston Red Sox and right-hander Brayan Bello, serving as the designated hitter and batting cleanup for the Tigers. Canha is back in the fold after missing the last two games due to a minor hip strain. The 35-year-old veteran outfielder is in the heart of Detroit's batting order against an up-and-coming Boston hurler who he has never faced in his career. Canha is returning to a modest .247/.358/.401 slash line this year with six home runs, 24 RBI, one stolen base and 27 runs scored in 182 at-bats and 52 games in his first season in the Motor City. He'll be attempting to extend his current hitting streak to seven games on Sunday. During his six-game streak, he's gone 9-for-21 (.429) with no homers, two doubles, four RBI, two walks and five strikeouts in 24 plate appearances.

Mark Canha Remains Sidelined On Saturday

Detroit Tigers outfielder Mark Canha (hip) remains out of the starting lineup again on Saturday. The 35-year-old was a late scratch on Friday and will once again be sitting out due to hip discomfort. Chris McCosky reports that there is no inclination that Canha will not go on the injured list and that the team will wait until how his hip holds up for the time being. Rookie Colt Keith will slot in as the designated hitter and bat fifth this afternoon, which opens up the keystone for Zach McKinstry, who will bat in the seven-hole. Keith is worth a look in DFS as he has posted a strong .378 AVG with two home runs in his past eleven games. He will face Red Sox right-hander Cooper Criswell who enters Saturday with a 4.19 ERA.
