Chicago Cubs president of baseball operations Jed Hoyer said that outfielder Ian Happ (oblique) will be activated off the 10-day injured list before Tuesday's contest in Miami against the Marlins. In a corresponding move, the team will send catching prospect Moises Ballesteros back to Triple-A Iowa. The Cubs said on Monday that Happ would rejoin the team this week in Miami, so he should be back in the starting lineup on Tuesday versus left-hander Ryan Weathers. The 30-year-old needed the minimum of 10 days to recover from his strained left oblique. The former ninth overall pick in 2015 out of the University of Cincinnati will return to a .269/.364/.381 slash line with three home runs, 19 RBI, 29 runs scored and two stolen bases. Happ has been better against lefty pitcher from the right side, going 16-for-44 (.364), although he has yet to homer against a southpaw in 2025.

Chicago Cubs manager Craig Counsell said that outfielder Ian Happ (oblique) is expected to come off the 10-day injured list at some point during the team's current series in Miami against the Marlins. Happ went through a full pre-game workout on Saturday and is eligible to come off the IL on Tuesday before the second game of the series. The Cubs apparently liked what they saw from Happ during his workout over the weekend, so the 30-year-old switch-hitter should rejoin Chicago's starting lineup on either Tuesday or Wednesday, at which point fantasy managers will want to get him back into their starting lineups. Catching prospect Moises Ballesteros is likely to be sent back to the minors after going 1-for-12 at the plate after his recent call-up. Happ is currently slashing .269/.364/.381 with three homers, 19 RBI, 29 runs and two stolen bases in his 160 at-bats in 2025.

Chicago Cubs outfielder Ian Happ (oblique) ran the bases and went through a full pre-game routine on Saturday to test his injured left oblique, according to MLB.com. The Cubs are still gauging if Happ will be able to return from the 10-day injured list when he's eligible on Tuesday. It would be great news for Chicago if they can get their leadoff man back in Game 2 of their series against the Miami Marlins on Tuesday. The 30-year-old veteran switch-hitter has so far produced a .269/.364/.381 slash line with three home runs, 19 RBI, 29 runs scored and two stolen bases in his 160 at-bats in 2025. Happ was hitting .286 (8-for-28) with a homer, double, four RBI, a steal and five runs scored in eight games in May before getting hurt. Happ's injury allowed the Cubs to call up one of their top prospects in catcher Moises Ballesteros, who has been filling in at designated hitter.
