Parker Meadows, Doubles, Triples, Steals Base In Season Debut Monday

Detroit Tigers outfielder Parker Meadows (arm) had a strong first game of the season in Monday's 13-1 win over the White Sox. Batting leadoff, Meadows went 2-for-4 with a double, a triple, two walks, and a strikeout. He also stole a base. The 25-year-old had missed the beginning of the season on the injured list with a nerve issue in his arm, so it was nice to see him get back on a strong note. While Meadows has only 443 career plate appearances with the Tigers, he has been on fantasy radars for some time for his potential power-speed combination. He is currently rostered in just 17 percent of leagues, so he could be an option for fantasy managers looking for counting stats in roto leagues.

Parker Meadows Returns From 60-Day Injured List

The Detroit Tigers announced on Monday that they activated outfielder Parker Meadows (arm) from the 60-day injured list and optioned infielder/outfielder Justyn-Henry Malloy to Triple-A Toledo after Sunday's game in a corresponding move. To make room on the 40-man roster for Meadows, right-hander Ryan Cusick was designated for assignment. Detroit hasn't released their starting lineup for Monday's series opener against the division-rival Chicago White Sox, but Meadows should be back in there against right-hander Jonathan Cannon. A never issue in Meadows' arm caused him to miss the first 60 games of the season, but now that he's back, he should be the club's regular center fielder. The 25-year-old left-handed hitter was a difference-maker down the stretch for Detroit last year and hit .244/.310/.433 with nine homers, 28 RBI and nine steals in 82 regular-season games.

Parker Meadows Nearing 2025 Debut

Detroit Tigers outfielder Parker Meadows (arm) is closing in on his 2025 major league debut. Meadows will play nine innings tonight and Saturday at the Triple-A level. The Tigers could activate him after that, according to Chris McCosky of the Detroit News. The 25-year-old Meadows was expected to open the season as the Tigers' starting center fielder, but a musculocutaneous nerve problem in his right arm has prevented him from contributing so far. He was an effective member of last year's playoff-bound club during an 82-game showing in which he hit .244/.310/.433 with nine home runs and nine steals. The Tigers have mostly turned to Javier Baez in center in Meadows' absence. While Baez has unexpectedly enjoyed a rebound campaign this year, he'll cede center to Meadows when the Tigers activate him.
