New York Yankees second baseman Gleyber Torres (groin) is not in the team's starting lineup on Saturday against the visiting division-rival Boston Red Sox. Torres was forced to exit Friday night's contest early due to groin tightness and will expectedly sit out the very next day. The 27-year-old infielder didn't require any imaging after the injury, so it appears it's not a very serious ailment. Consider Torres day-to-day for now and check back on Sunday to see if he's back in the starting lineup. He's been in a funk offensively all year, so perhaps a little time off will help him. Torres is currently hitting .223/.297/.344 with eight home runs, 33 RBI and four stolen bases in 87 games for the Yanks. Oswaldo Cabrera will get the start at the keystone on Saturday and will bat in the eight-hole against Red Sox right-hander Josh Winckowski.

Torres was replaced by Oswaldo Cabrera after being removed. The Yankees have yet to give detail on what Torres' injury is but more detail is expected to be released upon the game's completion and Torres should be considered day-to-day for now. The 27-year-old had dealt with groin issues in June. Torres had been subpar at the plate this season, hitting for just an 81 OPS+ in 312 AB. If he is to miss any time then it should be expected that Cabrera will receive Torres' playing time.UPDATE: Torres left with right-groin tightness. He was examined by a team physician and there are no plans for imaging at this time, suggesting it's a minor injury.

New York Yankees second baseman Gleyber Torres homered in his return to the lineup on Friday, going 2-for-4 in the 16-5 win over the Blue Jays while also logging a sacrifice fly that gave him three RBI on the day. His return comes after being benched the last two games for poor play. It has been a rough season for the 27-year-old, tallying just a .219-8-32-37-4 line with a .286 wOBA and an 86 wRC+. There aren't many reasons to think he'll turn it around, although for his career he's been somewhat more productive in the second half of the season, so perhaps this performance can be a springboard for his second half.
