Washington Commanders tight end Zach Ertz (concussion) and defensive back Jeremy Chinn (concussion) are both in the league's concussion protocol after suffering head injuries in the team's Week 15 win over the New Orleans Saints, according to head coach Dan Quinn. It was a tough day for fantasy managers that started Ertz in the first round of the fantasy playoffs in most leagues, as he only caught two passes for 25 yards before getting hurt in the second quarter and not returning. He'll now be firmly up in the air to play in Week 16 against the division-rival Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, Dec. 22. If Ertz is forced to miss time, expect Ben Sinnott and John Bates to split reps at the tight end position for Washington. The two combined for two catches and 13 yards against the Saints, though, and there should be better TE options for fantasy managers.
Washington Commanders tight end Zach Ertz (concussion) has been ruled out for Sunday's game. The veteran tight end sustained this injury during the second quarter. Before leaving, Ertz brought in both of his targets for 25 yards. Wide receiver Terry McLaurin did most of the damage while Ertz was on the field, tallying two scores. At the time of departure, Ertz's two targets were tied for the third-highest on the team. For the remainder of the game, fantasy managers should expect Daniels to target his wideouts heavily. No.2 tight end John Bates should see an uptick in opportunities during the second half as well. Fantasy managers should keep an eye on Ertz's status after the contest. If Ertz were to miss an extended period of time, Bates would likely see starting opportunities with rookie Ben Sinnott operating as the No.2 option.
Washington Commanders tight end Zach Ertz should be viewed as a solid TE1 in Week 15 when he faces the New Orleans Saints. Over the past three contests, the veteran tight end has found the end zone in each contest and averaged 7.0 targets per game. In addition, No.2 wide receiver Noah Brown (kidney) will not suit up, which should open up even more targets for Ertz. Even though the New Orleans Saints have defended opposing tight ends well, allowing the tenth-fewest PPR points to this position, fantasy managers in 12-team formats should feel comfortable starting Ertz in all forts as he should see a hefty target share as he looks to extend his scoring streak to four games.
