Each day at FTN, we will try and find some unique prop bets that we can play to gain an edge. Here’s a few that stick out on Friday’s slate.
Frankie Montas Over 6.5 Strikeouts (+126, FanDuel)
Look, Frankie Montas has certainly been a bit up-and-down this season. I get it. But there is one stat with Montas that I just can’t seem to shake – when he gets to pitch in the friendly confines of Oakland, he is a beast – in fact, this season, he has whiffed 10.3 batters per nine innings pitched. Saturday, he gets a Cleveland squad missing Eddie Rosario that whiffed six times against Sean Manaea Friday over only 5.1 innings. We project Montas for 6.9 strikeouts, and he could smash this easily – in his last outing, he whiffed 10 Houston Astros, the toughest team in baseball to strike out.
San Diego Padres-Washington Nationals Over 9.5 Runs (-115, DraftKings)
Listen fam, this has nothing to do with the fact that this game more closely resembled a football contest Friday – the Nationals managed to allow 24 runs, and they didn’t even throw a position player. And the Padres allowed eight to boot, meaning the game had a total of 32 runs. But that doesn’t matter here – what does matter is that the struggling Blake Snell takes the hill, and he has a 4.99 ERA this season. On the other side? Patrick Corbin pitches for the Nationals, and he’s allowed 135 base runners so far this season in 93 innings. Let. There. Be. Runs.
