During the NFL season, we’re going to break down how different offenses are utilizing their running backs. As the year goes on, patterns begin to emerge that will allow us to anticipate and exploit mismatches between a defense and an offense we’re targeting in fantasy football.
Bird’s Eye View
Rushing – Left
Derrick Henry is still at the head of the class on this leaderboard despite missing multiple weeks with his injury. Antonio Gibson, Nick Chubb and Joe Mixon are the next trio at the top.
Jonathan Taylor is also climbing the leaderboard as the Colts are looking for ways to manufacture touches for him in any way possible.
Rushing – Middle
There is plenty of overlap between the leading rushers up the middle and those who are facing the most stacked boxes. We should see Mark Ingram climb this board if he’s able to play in Alvin Kamara’s absence on Thanksgiving night. That usage has spanned two teams at this point so there’s a definite trend with how teams view Ingram.
Damien Harris is near the top of this list but is slipping slowly into a timeshare with Rhamondre Stevenson.
Stevenson has been slowly trending up in rush share over the past month.
Rushing – Right
Joe Mixon has seen about 26% of his rushes go out to the right but is still far ahead of the rest of the league here. Jalen Hurts and Lamar Jackson are the only quarterbacks that find their way onto the leaderboard here.
