Moves to Make Now in Dynasty Fantasy Football (9/6)

The NFL season is officially back. It’s never too early to run a few victory laps, and I hope you’ve been reading this dynasty fantasy football series all summer. If you have, Isaiah Likely and Justice Hill were already on your radar (and hopefully your roster).

As a reminder, buying doesn’t mean getting a player for an overly snug luchador mask and Elijah Mitchell. Selling doesn’t mean you must rid your rosters of said player for 10 cents on the dollar. When players are improperly valued, take advantage.

Dynasty Moves to Make: Buys

Darnell Mooney, WR, Atlanta Falcons

Thanks to Arthur Smith’s exit, Bijan Robinson, Drake London and Kyle Pitts have headlined the allure of the Atlanta offense in the fantasy realm. But don’t overlook Darnell Mooney. Recruited by Kirk Cousins to join him in Atlanta, Mooney chose to sign with the Falcons over the Chiefs, landing a three-year deal. New offensive coordinator Zac Robinson branches off the Sean McVay tree, whose scheme is known for the heavy usage of three-receiver sets. Mooney is slated to be the WR2, with only Ray-Ray McCloud behind him thanks to Rondale Moore’s season-ending injury. According to the FTN Splits Tool, Mooney averages nearly two more points per game without Justin Fields under center.

Still just 26 years old (27 in October), he’s shown flashes of playmaking ability and has a 1,000-yard season under his belt. Playing with the best quarterback in his career, Mooney’s bounceback potential is being ignored.

Jaleel McLaughlin, RB, Denver Broncos

According to FTN StatsHub, McLaughlin had the second-highest DVOA (31.1%) among running backs with a minimum of 70 rushing attempts (De’Von Achane was first).

Although it was on a limited sample size, McLaughlin made the most of his opportunities last season. He finished inside the top 10 in explosive run rate, success rate and expected points added per rushing attempt. Despite adding fifth-rounder Audric Estime, McLaughlin is the backup to starter Javonte Williams. He’s in line for an increased workload with Samaje Perine now on the Chiefs. McLaughin has flex value and potential for more should Williams miss time or prove ineffective. FTN’s Mike Randle has been singing the praises of McLaughlin all offseason.
