Rafael Nadal (+750)

Age of Alcaraz
The rising Spanish superstar ranks among the world’s best at just 19 years old and has proven he can hang with the big boys. In the Madrid Open in early May, Alcaraz knocked off fellow countryman Rafael Nadal on clay, took down world number one Novak Djokovic in the semi-finals, and made quick work of second-ranked Alexander Zverev in the championship.

Djokovic Going for Fourth Consecutive Title
Novak Djokovic is the world No. 1 and the three-time defending champ at Wimbledon, but he hasn’t played up to his own lofty standard so far in 2022. He’ll look to get on track and bolster his legendary body of work with another Grand Slam victory. At this point in his career, Djokovic is playing for the all-time Grand Slam title and sole ownership of the sport’s “G.O.A.T” honor.
Singles Grand Slam Race
While the aforementioned Djokovic has dominated this tournament for the better part of a decade, he actually trails Rafael Nadal in the all-time singles Grand Slam race. Nadal’s 21 victories narrowly top Djokovic’s 20. That could change at the French Open prior to Wimbledon, but these two – and Roger Federer to a lesser extent – will be connected until they retire.
Russian and Belarusian Ban
In April, Wimbledon made the decision to ban all Russian and Belarusian competitors in response to the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine. As a result, world No. 1 Daniil Medvedev and eighth-ranked Andrey Rublev are not allowed to compete.
The ATP reacted by stripping the tournament’s ranking points, meaning Wimbledon victories do not count toward a player’s world ranking. Even through very public dissent from the sport’s top players, commentators and fans, Wimbledon has held firm on its ruling.
