San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Jauan Jennings didn't see many passes thrown his way in 2023 but played a key role in the team's 24-21 comeback Divisional Round victory over the Green Bay Packers in Santa Clara on Saturday night. Jennings saw his involvement increase early in the game when Deebo Samuel (shoulder) left the game and could not return. The former seventh-round pick and role player caught five of six targets for 61 yards and handled one rushing attempt for minus-one yard. He'll be in play as a cheap DFS option in next Sunday's NFC Championship Game if Samuel can't go, but otherwise, he cannot be relied upon to produce.
San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk disappointed fantasy managers in Saturday night's 24-21 comeback victory over the Green Bay Packers in the Divisional Round at Levi's Stadium. Aiyuk only mustered three catches on six targets for 32 yards. However, from a real football standpoint, Aiyuk was much more valuable. His second reception was pulled from the tops of his ankles on the run and helped the 49ers get into field goal position, points that later on would prove to be the difference in the game. His third was a difficult third-down conversion near the turf with a defender draped all over him, an important contribution to San Francisco's game-winning drive. He'll look to get back on track statistically when the 49ers face either the Detroit Lions or Tampa Bay Buccaneers in next Sunday's NFC Championship Game.
San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey propelled his team to a 24-21 comeback victory over the Green Bay Packers on Saturday night in Santa Clara. The most productive back in the NFL took 17 carries for 98 yards and two touchdowns on the ground while hauling in seven of 12 targets for 30 yards. McCaffrey's name has been swirling around as an MVP candidate and though the award usually goes to a quarterback, it's hard to imagine the 49ers winning Saturday's game without him. His first TD was vintage McCaffrey, a 39-yard explosion fueled by vision, power, and agility. His second was a 6-yard plunge with 1:07 left in the game and San Francisco trailing. He'll be the top play at running back in fantasy next Sunday in the NFC Championship Game regardless of whether the 49ers play the Detroit Lions or the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy completed a fourth-quarter 24-21 comeback win in Saturday night's Divisional Round matchup against the Green Bay Packers. At times, Purdy appeared to struggle with accuracy in the rainy conditions but made enough crucial throws to earn the victory. He finished 23-for-39 for 252 yards and one touchdown. Purdy didn't throw an interception in this one, though a poor decision in the first quarter led to an easy pick bouncing off a Green Bay defender's hands. Later, trailing in the fourth quarter Purdy skillfully led the 49ers on a 12-play, 69-yard game-winning drive, a box he had failed to check off in each of his late comeback attempts this season. Next week, Purdy will either face the Detroit Lions or Tampa Bay Buccaneers at home in the NFC Championship Game.
San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel (shoulder) won't return to Saturday's postseason meeting with the Green Bay Packers. The wideout suffered a variety of ailments throughout the evening. First, he exited briefly for a concussion evaluation. However, a shoulder injury suffered not long after was enough to seal his fate for the rest of the night, and he'll finish with two catches for 24 yards. Of course, Samuel's health will be a significant topic heading into the NFC Championship, assuming the Niners can advance. But until he's back on the field, Christian McCaffrey, George Kittle, and Brandon Aiyuk will remain the top offensive contributors. At the same time, Jauan Jennings, who has three catches for 33 yards, could continue to see an expanded role.
