Ryan Weathers To Be Evaluated In 1-2 Weeks

Miami Marlins left-hander Ryan Weathers (finger) will be evaluated to throw in one to two weeks. Weathers isn't going to return anytime soon and has already been shut down for almost a month with a left index-finger strain. Even if he's cleared to resume a throwing program in one to two weeks, there's no guarantee that he'll be ready to rejoin Miami's starting rotation in the month of July. The 24-year-old southpaw is also probably going to require at least a few minor-league rehab starts before being reinstated from the injured list. When he's nearing a return, the former seventh overall pick of the San Diego Padres in 2018 will be worth a waiver-wire pickup for pitching depth in deep-mixed leagues. In his first full season in Miami, Weathers had gone 3-5 with a 3.55 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and a 67:20 K:BB in 13 starts (71 innings) before injuring his finger.

Ryan Weathers Could Resume Throwing Soon

Miami Marlins left-hander Ryan Weathers (finger), who is rehabbing in Jupiter, Fla., will be evaluated for throwing in a few days. Weathers was pulled after giving up a two-run home run to Cleveland Guardians shortstop Brayan Rocchio on the 40th pitch of his June 7 start and landed on the injured list with a left index-finger strain. If the 24-year-old southpaw can ramp up his throwing program quickly, there's a chance he could rejoin Miami's starting rotation before the All-Star break in mid-July. In his first full season with the Fish this year, Weathers has looked pretty good, going 3-5 with a 3.55 ERA (3.91 FIP) and 1.14 WHIP with a 67:20 K:BB in 71 innings over his 13 starts. His 22.5% strikeout rate is right in line with his career-high 23% mark in 2023. When healthy, he has clear streaming appeal in mixed fantasy leagues.

Ryan Weathers Sharp On Sunday

Miami Marlins starting pitcher Ryan Weathers posted a dominant performance during Sunday's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks. The left-hander racked up seven strikeouts over six scoreless frames in the victory. He allowed only four hits and walked one batter during this stellar performance. He'll take a 3.16 ERA, 1.09 WHIP, and 53/20 K/BB into next week's matchup against the Texas Rangers. This is a tough matchup for Weathers, but he has shown the ability to hold his own this season.
