Tipico Tips: Betting the 2021 RBC Heritage

The RBC Heritage finds itself back in its traditional spot following the Masters after having been moved to June in 2020 due to the pandemic. The conditions should be more similar to passed results, with the course typically playing more firm in April compared to June, and mother nature can often have a say in Hilton Head, S.C. Tree lined and narrow, distance advantages are negated and more of the field is brough into play than at the average course on the PGA Tour, which opens more betting options for us.

Will Zalatoris +3000

If you were not aware of Zalatoris before, you probably are now. He introduced himself to a whole new set of golf fans with his second-place finish at The Masters last week, and I don't see his game slowing down. The key to his success has been his consistency in the ball-striking department. If you look back over the last six months, Zalatoris' game has been quite comparable to Collin Morikawa statistically and in their early consistency. Zalatoris has been quite predictable with how consistent he has been and although Harbour Town will negate some distance advantage, he has been hitting his irons as good as anybody else in this field (and the world). His game around the game is adequate and although putting had been a hindrance to his professional start, this arm lock grip has brought him to being an average PGA tour player.

Christiaan Bezuidenhout, +6000

This week sets up well for Bezuidenhout to get a breakthrough win on the PGA Tour. We know he can win, as we've seen on the European Tour, and he's talented enough to win on the PGA Tour as well. Harbour Town offers some relief to his game as well; normally lacking for distance off the tee, he will find himself on more of an even playing field this week than usual. His approach game has improved greatly over the last calendar year and he has always been a short game wizard, excelling around the green and at putting. He has had lackluster finishes of late but perhaps on a course that may suit his game more he will find a spark. Not shy to winning on tougher, tree-lined courses, Bezuidenhout held off Jon Rahm at the Andalucía Masters for his first full status career victory on the European Tour, leaving no doubt if he finds himself in contention this week that he has the good to finish.
