The TGL debut received relatively good reviews as most fans had very low expectations. I thought it was a bit better than I expected and could see it getting even better as some of the personalities are allowed to shine more throughout the year.
While TGL was debuting in Florida, the PGA Tour was still in Hawaii getting ready for this week’s Sony Open. This is the season opener for so many in the field who didn’t get the invite to Kapalua last week.
With that said, form becomes slightly more unpredictable but that goes both ways. You could argue that we should tread lightly but at the same time, if the general public overvalues that one-week result then we have the opportunity to “buy low” on some golfers. So with the idea of not overreacting to one week, let’s jump right in to talk about my favorite DFS plays for the 2025 Sony Open.

Luke Clanton
He’s just an amateur but is already performing at an elite level. When looking at one-year baseline I see him ranked third in the field, sandwiched between Corey Conners and Russell Henley. Adding to his appeal, his three best finishes of 2024 came at Sea Island, TPC Deere Run, and Sedgefield so short-track shootouts are right up his alley.
