The Core and More: PGA DFS Notes for the 2024 Charles Schwab Challenge

Share

The PGA Championship provided an exciting week of action with a good mix of stars at the top of the board last week. A handful of those will be making the trip to Fort Worth for this week’s Charles Schwab Challenge.

For DFS purposes, we should note that the 36-hole cutline returns to the usual top 65 and ties. We should also note that being in Texas, weather is always worth watching. As of now it looks like the area will get hammered with rain/hail today to soften the course and potential force preferred lies to start the week. There are more storms possible Thursday afternoon. If you are focused on wind gusts, then the Thursday a.m. wave looks to have a bit of an edge, if the week goes according to forecast. But over the course of my years playing DFS golf I’ve learned to never fully trust a weather forecast, especially in Texas.

If you are MME’ing, then toss in a fair amount of wave stacks this week, possibly shading more to the Thursday a.m. side, but make sure you include both sides because one delay or a shift of wind by a few hours could completely flip the wave advantage. For single-entry I would keep an eye on the forecast as the day goes on today to see how much those models change over the course of a day. As of now, I’m still open to either side of the draw.

Now let’s get into the fun stuff, my favorite targets.
