PrizePicks offers a different way to play fantasy sports than simply building a lineup of different golfers on a salary. There are different categories of props and matchups which are not often offered anywhere else. I’m going to go through a few different angles on how to play during the U.S. Open.
Prize Picks has birdie matchups, fairways hit, greens in regulation, score and occasionally scoring on set holes on the course. These props are setup for single round action allowing you do adjust as you go and get more information as the tournament progresses.

U.S. Open Breakdown
Currently on PrizePicks, there are six categories to choose from, including one category labeled “holes played,” which is essentially picking if a golfer will make or miss the cut. Usually on a normal week the top 65 and ties make the cut, but for the U.S. Open, that number shrinks to the top 60 and ties. That adds a little more variance into the equation and overall, roughly only 40% of the field will play the weekend.
I ran my simulations for the week and there are three golfers who stand out on PrizePicks for this category.
Holes Played
- Marc Leishman OVER 36.5 holes played
- Kevin Kisner UNDER 36.5 holes played
- Erik Van Rooyen UNDER 36.5 holes played
I am personally putting in a two-man Power Play on Marc Leishman OVER and Kevin Kisner UNDER.
As for the other categories being offered, it’s tempting to play some birdie matchups, but I would like to see how Round 1 plays out. I do not anticipate a lot of birdies being made which could make that category a bit more random than I would like.
The general consensus is that The Country Club is going to play quite difficult, and if this is something you believe, perhaps you can find options to play in the Greens in Regulation or Fairway Hit categories.
