PrizePicks offers a different way to play fantasy sports than simply building a lineup of different golfers on a salary. There are different categories of props and matchups, which are not often offered anywhere else.

PrizePicks has birdie matchups, fairways hit, greens in regulation, score and occasionally scoring on set holes on the course. These props are set up for single-round action allowing you to adjust as you go and get more information as the tournament progresses. Occasionally, such as for majors, PrizePicks will offer “holes played,” which basically picks golfers to make or miss the cut, in which case the props will take place over the first two rounds.

If you have never played on Prize Picks or want more background, I highly suggest reading this article by FTN’s Tyler Loechner on how it works. It’s a great breakdown of how the site works.

Now, let’s get into the picks for this week.

Sentry Tournament of Champions Round 1 Picks

Sungjae Im over Corey Conners (BoB R1 Matchup)

I like Im to have a second breakout year here this season, and he has been rounding back into form with three top 10s in his last five events. Im also has the advantage of seeing this event in back-to-back years, and he tallied two top 10s in that frame as well.

Tom Kim over Max Homa (BoB R1 Matchup)

Tom Kim is another breakout candidate, but we shold probably acknowledge the breakout has already happened. This kid is exceptional, and he is going to be riding a high this week as he is fresh of signing an exclusive deal with Nike. Max Homa also had a great year last season, but he ranks 19th in this field in BoB%, and that is something I expect Kim to have much better luck in.

Will Zalatoris over Trey Mullinax (BoB R1 Matchup)

We all saw the close calls Zalatoris had in several majors last year, however I don’t think the talent level between him and Trey Mullinax is a close call. Zalatoris is one of the seven best golfers in the world, and while this course might be a good fit for someone like Mullinax, give me the elite talent.
