The Arnold Palmer Invitational isn’t the start of the PGA Tour season, but it is the start of the rush of important golf tournaments. The API, The Players and The Masters are all within the next 40 days. What a time to be alive.
Course Fit: The 2025 Arnold Palmer Invitational

The theme of distance over accuracy in the early part of the season continues this week, but we also get a big spike in approach importance. In addition to following the resulting projections and GPP Scores, I want to be on the lookout for strong iron players who struggle with their short game and have consequently gotten off to a slow start this season (because we’ve had more CF Models that boost ATG and diminish APP play than the opposite).
Hot Takes for the 2025 Arnold Palmer Invitational
1. It’s finally Taylor Pendrith week
Here are Pendrith’s results this year:

The ball striking has been outstanding, so this fit is perfect for him. Plus, every single event that he’s played this year boosts short game importance. All but Kapalua and Torrey Pines also diminish iron play importance. So he hasn’t broken through yet this year the way we’ve hoped he would, but he finally gets a course that perfectly accentuates his strengths and hides his weaknesses.
