While the federal legalization of retail and online sports betting has swept the nation, there are still quite a few states where it is not yet legal. One of them is Missouri.
Now, Missouri has taken steps in the right direction as lawmakers have drawn up bills that would make sports betting legal in the Show-Me State, but they have all been rejected thus far.
Missouri Sports Betting Overview
Despite the multiple failed attempts to legalize sports betting in Missouri, there is plenty of optimism that it could be in place by the end of 2022.
There is a push for it to be legalized as in-state casinos and professional sports teams have already come out in support of legalization.
The Missouri General Assembly has already proposed a half-dozen sports betting bills, but it has been to no avail. There is belief that once legalized, sports betting would be huge in Missouri. Back in February, two bills were proposed featuring sports betting being legal at 13 casinos and up to 39 different online sports betting sites.
It is no secret how popular sports betting would be in a state that features professional teams such as the St. Louis Cardinals, Kansas City Chiefs, St. Louis Blues and the Kansas City Royals. It does not end there, as college teams from schools like Missouri and Missouri State would garner interest as well.
