Chiefs vs. Bengals Betting Odds and Picks
The upstart Cincinnati Bengals have made it to the AFC Championship game for the first time since 1989. They are facing a team that is quite familiar with championship games. Counting this year, the Kansas City Chiefs have hosted the last four AFC Championship games.
The Bengals earned their spot by taking down the Las Vegas Raiders in the Wild Card Round and then followed it up by knocking off the No. 1 seed Tennessee Titans in the Divisional Round.
Kansas City certainly had their trials and tribulations to once again defend their reign over the AFC. In the Wild Card Round they sent Ben Roethlisberger into the sunset by defeating his Pittsburgh Steelers in a dominating performance. They then welcomed the Buffalo Bills in what was a duel for the ages as the teams exchanged 25 points in the final two minutes of regulation, and even that was not enough as overtime was needed. Patrick Mahomes made quick work of it as he led his team down the field for the game-winning touchdown on the first possession of OT.
It will only be 28 days from when these two teams last met. The first meeting took place in the Queen City, and the hometown Bengals took down the Chiefs by a score of 34-31. It would seem the only thing that has changed since that meeting is the odds.
On Jan. 2, the Chiefs were 3.5-point favorites and the total was 51, but they’ll enter the AFC Championship game as 7-point favorites with the total set at 53.5. In the first meeting, we saw Joe Burrow and Patrick Mahomes go toe to toe and trade big plays. I expect the Bengals to be more than ready for this game and have a similar amount of success that they did just weeks ago.
