There are plenty of different props to choose from on PrizePicks, and there’s a lot of money to be made. You can pick your choice of NFL, NBA, PGA, MMA, soccer and more. As you’ll see below, I’ll be focusing on the NHL.
Speaking of “PrizePicks,” it is a creative new way to parlay picks based on expected fantasy point production.
The format is simple. You pick two, three or four players and predict whether they will go over or under their projected fantasy point total.
When parlaying the players, the larger your parlay, the better the payout:
- Two-pick entry pays 2.5x (max entry: $400)
- Three-pick entry pays 5x (max entry: $200)
- Four-pick entry pays 10x (max entry: $100)
As a bonus offer, there is a “flex play” option if you choose to run a four-man parlay. This will provide some security, as you can earn 1.5x your buy-in if three of your four picks hit.
Below are my top PrizePicks for Thursday’s slate in the NHL. I will be mixing and matching my pick combinations from the pool below, with my favorite combinations also included.

NHL
Alex Ovechkin OVER 4.1 Fantasy Points
Ovechkin has one goal, two points and eight shots on goal in two games since returning from the COVID-19 list. We all know Ovechkin is a volume shooter as he has 21 through six games this season. He should finish with 3-5 shots, which provides a nice floor as you get half a point for a SOG. He has 14 shots on goal in his past three games against the Rangers, so if he can find the scoresheet, we should get the over. The Capitals enter tonight with the second-best power-play in the league as they’re operating at 40.9%. Ovechkin played 6:37 on the PP in his last game.
Auston Matthews OVER 5.1 Fantasy Points
This is a high projection for Matthews, but David Pastrnak had a high projection Wednesday and we got that, so I have no problem taking the over here. The Canucks have played to the over in 10 of their 13 games and they’ve surrendered the fourth-most goals per game (third-most at 5v5 per 60 minutes). They’ve allowed at least five goals in six of their past nine games and they played the Ottawa Senators in the three games they didn’t. Vancouver has allowed a league-high 30.78 scoring chances per 60 minutes at 5v5 and they’ve coughed up the fourth-most high-danger chances. Like Ovechkin, Matthews likes to shoot the puck as he has at least four in six of his nine games (39 total). He also has six goals and 10 points in as many games.
