Welcome to the Stanley Cup Playoffs NHL Prop Bets article w/ Chris Meaney as he shares his best NHL picks for Tuesday.

The NHL slate gets underway in New Jersey as the Hurricanes look to bounce back from an 8-4 thumping in Game 3. They hold a 2-1 series lead, but they’re +132 underdogs against the Devils. The Kraken are also up 2-1 in their series with the Stars and they’re at home for Game 4, but they are underdogs at +125. Both totals sit at 5.5 and I have a lean to the over on both.

Let’s get after a few NHL props to consider.

Check out our Prop Shop for the best possible odds and check out all of Chris’ picks in our Pick Tracker.

Tuesday is a great night for SGP Point Parlays, so be sure to check out our FTN Bets Tracker for more! With our betting package you get all of our picks across all sports, plus access to our Discord channel and to our projections. Promo code Meaney will get you 20% off all packages at FTN

The Best NHL Props Bets

Roope Hintz Over 2.5 SOG

(-115, BETMGM)

Let’s start here with the Free Bet of the Day at FTNBets. As discussed on Dangle Bet Celly, Hintz is usually hanging around even money to start each morning. He’s moved from -106 (pick in Bet Tracker) to -140 in various spots (Prop Shop). That’s just about the cut off for me to take an NHL prop as a single bet (-140).

Hintz had three shots on four attempts at 5v5 in Game 3’s blowout loss in Seattle. He finished with a team high four shots in the game. The Stars’ center had four shots on five attempts at 5v5 in Game 2 as well. Hintz is creating at 5v5 chances and not just the power play like some players in this series (Jason Robertson). Getting four attempts on the road is very encouraging. Overall, he has at least four shots on goal in four straight games.

It’s worth noting that pass-first Joe Pavelski is back on a line with Hintz and Robertson. I expect this line to create a few chances in Game 4. This trio has been one of the best lines in hockey dating back to the start of last season. I have a few Pavelski props to consider in our tracker.

This tool is flat out awesome. It can save you a lot of time and a lot of money.

Bonus

  • Pavelski Point & OVER 1.5 SOG SGP (+120, BET365)
  • Joe Pavelski Point (-145, FanDuel
  • Pavelski Assist (+170, FanDuel
  • Oliver Bjorkstrand OVER 2.5 SOG (-123, FanDuel)
  • Evgenii Dadonov Point (+125, DraftKings)
  • Hintz, Pavelski, Robertson Points SGP (+200, BET365)
  • Hintz Goal (+174, FanDuel)

I like to play the point props at two units and the assist at .5 units (see Mean Streets below regarding Dadonov and Pavelski).

Nico Hischier Over 2.5 SOG

(-130, DraftKings Sportsbook)

Like most of his teammates, Hischier had a quiet two games in Carolina, but he woke up in Game 3 with a goal, an assist and five shots on the net. He finished with a team high eight shot attempts and five shots at 5v5 and nine attempts and five shots overall. He also led all New Jersey forwards in ice time (19:34). Hischier’s linemates (Jesper Bratt & Ondrej Palat) were fantastic as well as the Devils had a team high 23 shot attempts and 11 against at 5v5 when they were on the ice. Bratt had seven attempts and Ondrej Palat had four.

Head coach Lindy Ruff made an adjustment and couldn’t have asked for a better result. Hischier’s line finished with a team-high 14 shots, 15 scoring chances and 10 high danger chances. For what it’s worth, the line of Jack Hughes, Timo Meier and Dawson Mercer scored on all four of their high danger chances at 5v5 in Game 3. They finished with 12 attempts and nine against (9-5 shots at 5v5).

Back to the former first overall pick and former Halifax Moosehead Hischier. The winger has cleared 2.5 shots on goal in three straight home games and seven of his 10 total games in these playoffs.
