The Best NHL Prop Bets

Vladimir Tarasenko Point

(-120, DraftKings Sportsbook)

This is a fun revenge spot for Vladimir Tarasenko, who played 57 games with the Ottawa Senators this season, but there is more to this pick than that. Tarasenko scored 17 goals and he had 41 points with the Sens, which is respectable, but he has five goals and 10 points in 13 games with Florida. He has two three-point games with the Panthers, which is something he only did one time with the Senators. The winger has three goals and seven points in his last six games, and he has four points and seven shots in his last two games. He played 17:46 in his last game, which was the most he’s played with Florida since they acquired him at the NHL trade deadline. Tarasenko was promoted to the top line in his last game and he’ll skate on the top line with Aleksander Barkov and Sam Reinhart, as Carter Verhaeghe is listed as week-to-week (upper-body). Not only will he play 5v5 with those two players, he’ll skate on the top line. The Verhaeghe injury is a big blow to the Panthers, but it gives Tarasenko an opportunity to put up some numbers in his absence.

Bonus

  • Sam Reinhart O 2.5 SOG (-140, DraftKings)
  • Drake Batherson Point (-125, DraftKings)
  • Vladimir Taraseno O 2.5 SOG (+160, Bet365)
  • Sam Reinhart, Aleksander Barkov Points SGP (-135, Bet365)
  • Drake Batherson, Brady Tkachuk, Shane Pinto Points (+350, Bet365)

Trevor Moore Point

(-130, DraftKings Sportsbook)

Trevor Moore is fresh off a hat trick Wednesday night as his Kings handled the Kraken 5-2. This is the second half of a back-to-back, but luckily for Los Angeles this game is against the San Jose Sharks. The last time Los Angeles played in San Jose they won 4-1. Moore scored a goal and the Kings outshot San Jose 38-16. They also outshot San Jose 43-25 in their last meeting against San Jose which resulted in a 5-1 win for the Kings. Pierre-Luc Dubois has had a disappointing first season with Los Angeles, but he took Phillip Danault’s spot on the second line last night and he assisted on all three of Moore’s goals. Danault won’t play, so consider PLD for a point.

Bonus

  • Pierre-Luc Dubois Point (+110, DraftKings)
  • Quinton Byfield Point (-140, DraftKings)
  • Fabian Zetterlund Point (-105, DraftKings)
  • Adrian Kempe, Anze Kopitar Points SGP (+100, Bet365)
  • Adrian Kempe, Anze Kopitar, Quinton Byfield 2 Points SGP (+1400, Bet365) 0.25u
  • Trevor Moore, Pierre-Luc Dubois, Viktor Arvidsson 2 Points SPG (+3300, Bet365) 0.25u

Anthony Duclair Point

(-105, DraftKings Sportsbook)

Duclair is another winner from the trade deadline who has popped up in these NHL props articles since the Tampa Bay Lightning acquired him from the San Jose Sharks. Duclair had an impressive 16 goals in 56 games (27 points) on a very bad Sharks team. He has five goals and 10 points in 11 games with the Lightning and books have simply not adjusted for his new environment. Duclair is only averaging 14:50 compared to 16:10 with the Sharks, but he’s been playing 5v5 with Nikita Kucherov and Brayden Point. Kucherov has 130 points and Point has hit the score sheet 83 times this season. I don’t want to take anything away from Duclair’s game, but Kucherov has points in 17 of his last 18 games and 36 over that span. That’s right, Kucherov is averaging two points per game in his last 18 contests.

Bonus

  • Nikita Kucherov O 1.5 PTS (+110, BETMGM)
  • Brayden Point O 2.5 SOG (-125, DraftKings)
  • Juraj Slafkovsky Point (-125, DraftKings)
  • Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield Points SGP (+105, Bet365)

Nikolaj Ehlers Point

(-105, DraftKings Sportsbook)

Every time I look at the lines in Winnipeg, they’re different. This is a team struggling to find offense as they only have one win in their last seven games. They managed to win their last game thanks to four goals, and although Ehlers didn’t pick up a point he’s been productive of late. The winger has points in three of his last four games and eight of 12. He has two multipoint games over that span as well. As bad as the Jets have been as late, the Flames have been worse. They’re coming off an embarrassing 5-3 loss on home ice to Anaheim and they’ve lost six of seven games. Calgary has allowed at least four goals in five of its last seven games, so maybe the Jets will break out here.
