The Best NHL Props Bets

Dylan Guenther Over 2.5 SOG

(-110, Bet365)

Guenther has been in the last two fantasy hockey waiver wire pieces, so not only do I think he’s a good bet here, I think he could be a good asset for you as we creep closer to fantasy hockey playoffs. Guenther has an impressive eight goals and 17 points in 24 games this season. He has goals in back-to-back games, and five points over that span, including three on the power play. The winger has seven points in his past six games, and five have been on the man advantage, and he’s been the shooter on the power play. He leads Arizona with 54 shot attempts and 24 shots on goal over the past three weeks. He enters with at least two shots on goal in nine straight games, and at least three in three of his past four games and five of his last eight. The Coyotes have won back-to-back games for the first time since January, and they scored five goals in each one of those wins. Arizona gets Chicago at home Tuesday after the Blackhawks played last night in Colorado. Since the calendar turned to 2024, Chicago ranks third in scoring chances, high danger chances and scoring chances allowed on the road at 5v5/60, according to Natural Stat Trick. Over that same time period, they rank second in shots allowed.

Cole Caufield Over 3.5 SOG

(-124, BetRivers)

There are a few NHL props I like in this game between the Montreal Canadiens and Nashville Predators, including Cole Caufield for four shots. Caufield has had at least four shots on goal in 14 of his last 17 games. He’s put five pucks on the net in four of his last nine games. The Habs’ winger is a volume shooter who checks in with an average of 3.7 shots per game (3.4 per game last season). His 230 shots through 61 games are already a career high for him and the 19:23 per game he’s averaging is also a career best mark (21 per game since Feb. 1). His 8.3 percent shooting rate is by far the lowest mark of his career, but it hasn’t phased him as he continues to put pucks towards the net. Both Montreal and Nashville rank in the top half when it comes to shot attempts and shots allowed (Montreal much worse), and both teams have bottom six penalty kills (Montreal second worst at 74.2%). Tommy Novak is fresh off signing a three-year/$10.5M contract thanks to a recent run that has resulted in points in 11 of his last 13 games. A recent promotion to the top power play may keep him on the score sheet.

Bonus

  • Filip Forsberg O 3.5 SOG (-145, DraftKings)
  • Roman Josi Assist (-125, DraftKings)
  • Tommy Novak Point (-125, DraftKings)
  • Juraj Slafkovsky Point (-110, DraftKings)
  • Filip Forsberg & Roman Josi Points SGP (+100, Bet365)
  • Nick Suzuki & Cole Caufield Points SGP (+100, Bet365)
  • Filip Forsberg, Ryan O’Reilly, Gustav Nyquist 2 Points SGP (+2000, Bet365) 0.25 units

Wyatt Johnston Over 2.5 SOG

(-135, DraftKings Sportsbook)

The Dallas Stars ruined us over the weekend when it came to their NHL props, in what was a fantastic spot at home against the San Jose Sharks. This is the second half of a home and away with Dallas and San Jose, and I expect a much better effort from the Stars. I’m leading with Wyatt Johnston for three shots on goal. The sophomore forward has 14 shots on goal in his last three games, including five in each of his last two games. He also has points in four of his last five games and 10 total in his last 10 games. Over those 10 games, Johnston has racked up at least four shots on goal in seven of them (eight in one). No team has allowed more shot attempts or shots than San Jose at 5v5/60 since Jan. 1. They also rank first in scoring chances and second in high danger chances over that span.

Bonus

  • Roope Hintz Point (-145, DraftKings)
  • Wyatt Johnston Point (-120, DraftKings)
  • Joe Pavelski Assist (+125, DraftKings)
  • Wyatt Johnston 3 SOG, Roope Hintz 2 SOG, Jason Robertson 3 SOG, Matt Duchene 2 SOG & Jamie Benn 2 SOG SGP (+700, Bet365) 0.25 units
  • Jason Robertson, Joe Pavelski & Roope Hintz Points SGP (+210, Bet365)
  • Jason Robertson, Joe Pavelski & Roope Hintz 2 Points SGP (+2500, Bet365) 0.25 units

Leon Draisaitl Over 1.5 Points

(+175, DraftKings Sportsbook)

Leon Draisaitl for two points at +175 is our longshot NHL prop bet of the day. This is a tough spot against the Boston Bruins, but +175 is also too good to pass up when you consider Draisaitl has seven multi-point games in his last 11 games. He’s back on a line with Connor McDavid, which is part of why Draisaitl has four multi-point games in his last six matchups. The Bruins picked up a 4-1 win Monday in Toronto, but they’ve lost eight of their last 11 games, and they’ve allowed at least four goals in six of their past 10 games. Linus Ullmark should get the call for Boston, and he’s allowed 16 goals in his last four outings.
