The Best NHL Prop Bets

Jake DeBrusk Point

(-120, DraftKings Sportsbook)

This is our Free Bet of the Day here at FTN, and I’m surprised we don’t have to pay a steeper price considering the season DeBrusk is having and the plus matchup. You’ll be hard pressed to find a skater on a top line with -120 odds to hit the score sheet. The winger has 22 goals and 44 points in 51 games and he’s fresh off a four-point night where he had four shots on goal. DeBrusk has goals in three of his past six games and he has seven points over that span. He’s had at least two shots in each one of those six matchups and at least three shots on goal in three of his last four games. The 14th pick from the 2015 NHL Draft has been all over the net of late and he gets an Ottawa Senators team that allowed 49 shots on the road last night. Boston enters with a league best 27-3-3 record on home ice and they have the highest team implied total out of 26 teams on the ice.

Jakub Vrana Point

(+100, DraftKings Sportsbook)

I caught Vrana live at Capital One Arena Friday, and I must say, he stood out. He had a beautiful primary assist on Jordan Kyrou’s breakaway goal. He also just missed on his own breakaway where his speed was on full display. He’s been very impressive in his seven games with the Blues as he’s picked up five goals, six points, three power play points and 23 shots on goal. He’s also averaging 2:39 more per game with the Blues compared to his time this season spent with the Detroit Red Wings. Vrana has two 20 goal seasons on his NHL resume, and the 27-year-old had 13 goals in 26 games with the Red Wings in 2021-22. Unfortunately, things didn’t work out for him in Detroit, but this change has done him good. He checks in riding a four-game point streak in which he has four goals. I do buy into the revenge narrative in hockey, especially with a shooter like Vrana. He’s feeling it at the moment, the spot against Detroit is good and I wouldn’t be shocked if he presses to score against his former team. We could even see his teammate feed him for a goal throughout and late in the game if they have the lead. The Red Wings have lost 10 of their last 12 games and they’ve coughed up at least five goals in five of those games, including their last two.

Bonus

Brandon Hagel Assist

(+150, DraftKings Sportsbook)

Hagel went through a rough couple of weeks and was taken off the top line, but he’s back on it, so keep him on your radar. The winger has five goals, nine points and 17 shots on goal over his last six games. One of those games came against a Canadiens team he’ll see here, and in that game he scored three goals on seven shots. So why the assist? We’ll the Habs have lost nine of their last 10 games and they’ve surrendered 26 goals in their last four games. Sam Montembeault allowed four goals in that game and he’s allowed at least three in five of his last six contests. Hagel is a good bet to score and I think his shot prop is intriguing, but I also think he could pick up an assist playing alongside Brayden Point and Nikita Kucherov.
