The Best NHL Prop Bets
Pavel Zacha Point
(-135, BetMGM)
There’s been a little bit of line movement since we placed this bet last night in our Discord (-125), but I don’t mind the current price of -135 at BetMGM. Pavel Zacha was a big NHL trade deadline winner as the Bruins decided against acquiring another center. Zacha has played most of his 5v5 hockey with David Pastrnak, and I expect that will continue until the end of the season. Zacha enters Tuesday’s game against the Ottawa Senators on a seven-game point streak. He has five goals and 10 points over that span, including four on the power play. Zacha’s 14 power play points this season are tied for the most he’s ever had, dating back to his rookie season in 2016-17 with the New Jersey Devils. The 18:03 per game Zacha plays is also the most he’s ever had. He also has 27 points in 35 games at home compared to 19 in 30 games on the road. Meanwhile, the Senators have lost eight of their last 11 games and they coughed up seven in their last game.

Filip Forsberg Over 3.5 SOG
(-150, DraftKings Sportsbook)
Forsberg’s NHL prop is another that moved from the time we put it in Monday night, but I still think it’s a strong prop despite the juice. I wanted to bring Forsberg to your attention, because I think we have a good opportunity of laddering him up to 5-7 shots on goal. First of all, Forsberg is on a heater as he has 10 goals and 18 points in his last 14 games. He’s had at least four shots on goal in seven of his last 10 games. Over that span the winger has one game with five shots, two with six shots, another with seven shots, and one game with eight shots. Since Feb. 1 at 5v5/60, according to Natural Stat Trick, the Sharks rank second in shot attempts and shots allowed. Over the same time frame, they rank fifth in scoring chances allowed and first in goals allowed (third in expected goals allowed). San Jose also enters with the third-worst penalty kill percentage in the league (74.2%)

Evgeny Kuznetsov Point
(-110, DraftKings Sportsbook)
There seems to be a theme in today’s NHL props article, and that’s NHL trade deadline winners. There may not be a player who has benefited more with their new team than Evgeny Kuznetsov. Kuznetsov wasn’t even in Washington’s lineup before getting traded to the Hurricanes, so there’s that. He also moved from line four and power play two, to line two and power play one within a couple of games. Kuznetsov has points in three straight games, and he has two goals, four points and a power play point over that span. He looks like a rejuvenated player in Carolina and he’s also shooting the puck, which he sometimes just doesn’t bother to do. He has at least two shots on goal in five of the six games he’s played, and he has at least three shots on goal in four straight games. Carolina has scored 16 goals over a current three-game winning streak, and they’ve won eight of 10 (at least 4 goals in seven games). On the flip side, the Islanders have lost four straight games and they’ve allowed 17 goals over those losses. This after a six-game winning streak.
Bonus

- Evgeny Kuznetsov, Andrei Svechnikov & Martin Necas 2 Points SGP (+4000, Bet365) 0.25 units
Anthony Duclair Point
(+120, BetMGM)
Alex Nylander has been our long shot NHL prop in these articles of late, but I’m going another way. I still like Nylander, but his price has also moved. I decided to give some love to Anthony Duclair who was also a big winner at the NHL Trade Deadline. Duclair’s usage rate will go down, but he’ll happily trade in fewer minutes for Nikita Kucherov and Brayden Point. That’s who Duclair has been playing with and that’s a big reason why he has points in all three games he’s played with the Lightning. The former Shark had an impressive 16 goals in 56 games, but he has two goals and four points to go along with a +5 rating with Tampa Bay.
