The Best NHL Prop Bets

Jason Zucker Over 2.5 SOG

(-114, FanDuel Sportsbook)

Zucker is just too hot to ignore, even on a 12-game slate. The winger has goals in four straight games and nine over his last nine. His odds to score again here are not that great, but he’s at a good price for three shots and to pick up a point. He has 12 shots on goal over his last two games and at least three in three of four and six of nine. The Canadiens coughed up eight goals last night and they’ve lost seven straight. This is a great matchup for the Pens to score a few goals. Montreal has allowed the fourth-most shot attempts and at 5v5/60 over the last month, according to Natural Stat Trick.

Bonus

  • Jason Zucker Point (-128, FanDuel)
  • Zucker Assist (+220, DraftKings) 0.5 units
  • Denis Gurianov O 1.5 SOG (-114, BetRivers)
  • Michael Matheson O 2.5 SOG (-105, FanDuel)
  • Jake Guentzel Goal (+120, FanDuel)
  • Sidney Crosby O 1.5 PTS & Guentzel O 1.5 PTS SGP (+350, Bet365) 0.5 units

Tomas Hertl Over 2.5 SOG

(-106, BetRivers)

I wondered how Hertl would do without Timo Meier by his side, and as it turns out, Meier was a puck hog. I’m kidding, although Meier ranks among the leaders in shot attempts and shots this season. Now with Meier off his line, Hertl has put more pucks on the net. He’s racked up five shots in back to back games and he has a goal and at least five shots in four of his last five matchups. He’s played at least 19 minutes in seven of his last eight games, so the ice time will be there against a Blue Jackets team that ranks first in shot attempts allowed at 5v5/60 over the last month (third most shots). As you’ll see below, I also really like Boone Jenner and Patrik Laine when it comes to their shot props. They are juiced but I suggested some parlays to consider on Mean Streets.

Bonus

  • Boone Jenner O 2.5 SOG (-143, BetRivers)
  • Patrik Laine O 2.5 SOG (-155, DraftKings)
  • Laine Goal (+154,  FanDuel)
  • Hertl Goal (+150, FanDuel)
  • Jenner, Laine & Hertl O 2.5 SOG Each SGP (+375, Bet365)
  • Laine & Hertl Points SGP (+115, Bet365)

Nino Niederreiter Point

(+100, FanDuel Sportsbook)

David Rittich is likely getting the call, so I don’t feel as good about the Jets as I did Tuesday morning on DBC, but I still like Niederreiter. The Hurricanes are very stingy, they don’t give up much at 5v5 and Frederik Andersen has been solid in goal this season. However, there’s value here with the former Hurricane. Niederreiter has points in six straight games and he’s racked up 18 shots on goal in his seven games with the Jets. He’s scored in three of those games and he’s registered two power play points over this current run. He only had five power play points across 56 games with Nashville and he only logged 16:02 per game. He’s averaging 18:17 per game with the Jets, while playing on the first line and first PP unit. We shouldn’t be surprised with the success as he’s a six-time 20-goal scorer and he’s surrounded by more talent in Winnipeg. Niederreiter has also put at least three pucks on goal in five of his last six games. I had Nino for over 1.5 shots on goal at -139 at BetRivers, but that price has moved to -150. I’d chuck him into a parlay (I have some listed below from MeanStreets).

Bonus

I have several more props to consider from Tuesday’s episode of Mean Streets.
