The Best NHL Prop Bets

Tyler Toffoli Point

(-125, DraftKings Sportsbook)

Jack Hughes is expected to make his return for the Devils as they welcome the Calgary Flames to New Jersey. Hughes took line rushes this morning on a line with Tyler Toffoli, so he’s the player I’d like to take a look at when it comes to NHL props. Toffoli only has 34 points in 47 games, but he has 21 goals and he’s picked up five goals over his last four games. This really is about Hughes as the two will play together at 5v5 and on the power play.

I also think there’s pretty good value on the Flames’ top line, especially when you consider the Devils have allowed 23 goals in their last five games. Andrei Kuzmenko saw a big boost in ice time, and he scored in his Calgary debut. His linemate Jonathan Huberdeau had a three-point game and he’s quietly racked up 14 points in his last 14 games. Finally, Yegor Sharangovich moved to the middle of the ice in place of Lindholm, and the former Devil has eight goals and 10 points in his past 10 games.

Bonus

  • Jack Hughes O 3.5 SOG (-118, BetMGM)
  • Jonathan Huberdeau Point (-115, DraftKings)
  • Yegor Sharangovich Point (-120, DraftKings)
  • Jesper Bratt & Nico Hischier Points SGP (+125, Bet365)
  • Jack Hughes & Tyler Toffoli Points SGP (+115, Bet365)
  • Huberdeau, Andrei Kuzmenko, Yegor Sharangovich Points SGP (+350, Bet365)

Elias Lindholm Point

(-130, DraftKings Sportsbook)

We had Elias Lindholm for a point at +100 in the tracker and on DBC for his Vancouver debut Tuesday, but I really wish I had him in this article. He’s in a tough spot tonight in Boston, but I wanted to bring him up because Vegas hasn’t really adjusted his price since he was traded. The former Flames’ center scored two goals in 21:01 of action in his first game with the Canucks. His line with Elias Pettersson and Ilya Mikheyev led all Vancouver lines in ice time at 5v5 (13:37). Not only that, but Lindholm led all Vancouver forwards in 5v5 ice time (16:13). That’s pretty impressive for your first game. On top of that, Lindholm scored two power play goals on the first unit. Lindholm has gone from a power play in Calgary that ranked 26th (14.7%) to a power play in Vancouver that ranks seventh (25.8%). Again, this is a tough matchup against the Bruins, but we’re getting pretty good value for Lindholm to register a point.

Bonus

  • Pavel Zacha Point (-115, BetMGM)
  • J.T. Miller & Brock Boeser Points SGP (+125, Bet365)
  • Elias Lindholm Power Play Point (+300, BetMGM)

Cale Makar Over 2.5 SOG

(-125, DraftKings Sportsbook)

I like Sam Reinhart for three shots more (listed below), but his price is a little more juiced. We’re getting a decent price on Makar’s shot prop because of the matchup in Carolina against the Hurricanes. The matchup doesn’t bother me, which is why I don’t mind Nathan MacKinnon for four shots on goal at -150. He had a similar price in his previous two games, which also came on the road, and he hit in both spots. As for Makar, he’s playing too much to ignore the over on his shot prop. The Avs’ defenseman is averaging 26 minutes per game over his last 14 games, and he’s played at least 27 minutes in five of his last 12 games. Only Drew Doughty (389:13 in 15 games), Adam Fox, Brock Faber and Charlie McAvoy have logged more ice time since Jan. 1 than Makar (170.07 in 14 games), and they’ve all played more games than Cale. Makar has 16 shots on goal in his past three games and at least three in 13 of his last 19 games. He also had three shots in a game against the Hurricanes earlier this season.

  • Nathan MacKinnon O 3.5 SOG (-150, BetRivers)
