Welcome to the NHL prop bets w/ Chris Meaney, where I share a few of my favorite NHL prop bets. There are only six games on the NHL betting slate for Tuesday.

This is a great night for SGP point parlays, so be sure to check out our FTN Bets Tracker for more. With our betting package you get all of our picks across all sports, plus access to our Discord channel and to our projections. Promo code Meaney will get you 20% off all packages at FTN

FTNBets.com/free for a free three-day trial.

Be sure to check out Mean Streets for daily picks and Dangle Bet Celly for full NHL breakdowns each Tuesday and Thursday.

Season Record: 45-36, +9.12 (Bonus not included in record)

I still like my bonus bets even though I don’t include them in the official record. The reason I list three official picks is because I don’t want to confuse anyone with too many picks. I also feel strong about my bonus picks but they are longer shots. If you’re looking for more be sure to check out our Pick Tracker

The Best NHL Prop Bets

Frank Vatrano Over 2.5 SOG

(+118, BetRivers)

This is our free bet of the day at FTN Bets, and although the price has moved, I still like this play quite a bit. Vatrano has racked up 24 shots on goal over his last four games and he put five pucks on the net in a much tougher spot last night. The Ducks get a Chicago team that ranks fourth in shot attempts and shots allowed at 5v5/60 since Jan. 1. Over that time span, Anaheim ranks second in high danger chances allowed and expected goals against at 5v5/60, according to Natural Stat Trick. Anaheim isn’t a strong offensive team, but Vatrano has found the back of the net four times in his last four games. He’s averaging a career-high 17:11, and he could be in for a few more minutes as Troy Terry is questionable to play after leaving Monday’s game.

Valeri Nichushkin Assist

(+160, FanDuel Sportsbook)

I feel like this is pretty good value considering the matchup and spot in the lineup for Nichushkin. It’s been a rough year for the winger as he hasn’t been able to stay healthy, but he’s back in the lineup, and he’ll skate on the top line with Nathan MacKinnon who is a heavy volume shooter. Casey DeSmith has coughed up 18 goals in his last four games and at least three in four of his past five. In fact, he’s surrendered at least five goals in three of his last four games and two of those starts came against San Jose and Ottawa. As you’ll see below, I like action in this game between the Avs and Pens. I think we’ll see over 6.5 hit, so I listed a few other props I’m interested in. They are in order of how I like them.

Bonus

  • Valeri Nichushkin Point (-150, FanDuel)
  • Nathan MacKinnon Over 2.5 SOG (-125, DraftKings)
  • Sidney Crosby Over 2.5 SOG (-130, DraftKings)
  • Sidney Crosby & Jake Guentzel Point SGP (-115, Bet365)
  • Valeri Nichushkin & Artturi Lehkonen Point SGP (+140, Bet365)
  • Evan Rodrigues Over 2.5 SOG (-122, FanDuel)
  • Nathan MacKinnon Goal (+140, BetMGM)

Bo Horvat Over 2.5 SOG

(+100, BetRivers)

I’m doubling down on Bo Horvat, despite this being the second half of a back-to-back. Horvat will make his home debut, and he gets a stingier Kraken squad compared to his matchup last night against the Flyers. Despite the soft opponent, Horvat led all Islanders forwards in shot attempts (5) and shots (4) at 5v5. His 5v5 ice time (15:34) was second at the forward position, behind his linemate Mathew Barzal who scored a goal. Overall, Horvat finished with 17:52 minutes of ice time and he had four shots, six scoring chances and six attempts. Those numbers, minus the TOI, were the best marks among NYI forwards. I’d imagine he’s going to continue to get more and more ice time as he gets comfortable with his new team and he should have a jump in his step in front of his new fans. The Horvat line played a team-high 11:31 at 5v5 Monday, and they also led the way in shot attempts (14) and shots (11).
