The Best NHL Prop Bets

Nathan MacKinnon Over 4.5 SOG

(+100, BetRivers)

As I said on Dangle Bet Celly Tuesday morning, I’ll take MacKinnon for five shots at plus money every time I see it. Nate had nine shots in his last game, and he has at least five in three straight games. He’s played some tough 5v5 opponents of late, including the Rangers, Kings and Bruins, and he cleared 4.5 shots on goal in those games. Only David Pastrnak and Travis Konecny have more shot attempts at 5v5 than MacKinnon since Jan. 1, and he’s played fewer games than those two (103 in 19 games). That works out to 5.4 shot attempts per game at 5v5. He has 162 at all strengths over that time frame, which works out to 8.5 shot attempts per game. On top of that, MacKinnon has an impressive 22 goals and 55 points in 26 home games this season (4.4 shots per game).

Bonus

Sam Bennett Point

(+105, DraftKings Sportsbook)

The Panthers have the highest team implied total, on the slate and they’re fresh off a 9-2 beatdown against the Tampa Bay Lightning. The Sens played Monday night in Tampa Bay, so this is a tough spot for them when you consider Florida has won nine of its last 10 games. They’ve rattled off wins in five straight games and they’ve scored at least four goals in each victory. Bennett is probably the best value on the board given the matchup and firepower inside the top six. He scored twice and added two assists in Florida’s last game. He’s not on the top power play, but he’s skating on the second line with Matthew Tkachuk, which is important. Tkachuk has points in 10 of his last 11 games, and he has eight goals and 22 points over that span. He has seven multipoint games over those 11 matchups, including four multipoint games over a current five-game point streak.

Bonus

  • Matthew Tkachuk Assist (-125, BetMGM)
  • Sam Reinhart Assist (+130, BetMGM)
  • Sam Reinhart O 2.5 SOG (-114, BetRivers)
  • Brandon Montour Point (+105, DraftKings)
  • Claude Giroux Point (-135, DraftKings)
  • Claude Giroux O 2.5 SOG (+120, BetRivers)
  • Aleksander Barkov, Sam Reinhart & Carter Verhaeghe Points SGP (+145, Bet365)
  • Claude Giroux & Tim Stutzle Points SGP (+150, Bet365)

Gabriel Vilardi Point

(-105, DraftKings Sportsbook)

Winnipeg promoted Gabriel Vilardi to the top line over the weekend, and it created a spark to his game and others around him. Winnipeg has seven goals in its last two games and that may not seem like a lot, but they only scored more than two goals in one of their previous 11 games before this mini outburst. Vilardi has two goals, five points, four power play points and eight shots on goal in his last two games. He played 18 and 19 minutes in those two games, compared to 16, 13 and 15 in his previous three. The former King has quietly racked up 13 goals and 25 points in 33 games this season. Both the Jets and the Wild played last night and Minnesota coughed up seven goals in a crazy 10-7 game. I’m not expecting 17 goals in this matchup, but I like attacking the top line from both teams.

Bonus

  • Kirill Kaprizov Assist (-110, DraftKings)
  • Gabriel Vilardi O 2.5 SOG (+150, DraftKings)
  • Kirill Kaprizov O 1.5 Points (+180, DraftKings)
  • Kirill Kaprizov, Joel Eriksson Ek & Matt Boldy Points SGP (+165, Bet365)
  • Kyle Connor, Mark Scheifele & Gabriel Vilardi Points SGP (+225, Bet365)
  • Kirill Kaprizov, Joel Eriksson Ek & Matt Boldy 2 Points SGP (+1400, Bet365)
