The Best NHL Prop Bets

Gabriel Vilardi Over 2.5 SOG

(-130, DraftKings Sportsbook)

We’ve been all over Gabriel Vilardi’s NHL props since he returned to the lineup. The winger enters Wednesday’s game on a five-game goal streak. He has six goals, 12 points and 19 shots on goal over that span. On top of that, Vilardi has at least three shots on goal in seven straight games. With the injury to Kyle Connor, Vilardi has been asked to play on the top line and first power play. The Winnipeg Jets have a plus matchup with a Chicago Blackhawks team that ranks inside the top five in shot attempts and shots allowed at 5v5/60 over the last month, according to Natural Stat Trick. Over that span, the Blackhawks rank second in scoring chances and first in high danger chances allowed. The Jets’ top line with Vilardi, Mark Scheifele and Nikolaj Ehlers have combined for 30 points in the last two weeks, and Vilardi leads the way with 12 points.

Bonus

  • Gabriel Vilardi Point (-150, DraftKings)
  • Mark Scheifele Assist (+110, BetMGM)
  • Gabriel Vilardi Power Play Point (+320, Bet365)
  • Mark Scheifele, Gabriel Vilardi, Nikolaj Ehlers Points SGP (+210, Bet365)
  • Mark Scheifele, Gabriel Vilardi, Nikolaj Ehlers 2 Points SGP (+3000, Bet365)

Auston Matthews Over 1.5 Points

(+160, DraftKings Sportsbook)

We’re going right back to Auston Matthews’ two-point NHL prop until he shows signs of slowing down. In the last edition of this NHL props article, we had Matthews for two points at +156. He scored two more goals and added an assist. We’re getting slightly better odds, and the matchup is just as nice. The Ottawa Senators have the fifth highest GA/60 (2.96) at 5v5/60. They also rank in the top five in scoring chances allowed and in the top 10 in shot attempts given up at 5v5/60. Matthews not only leads the NHL with 28 goals in 30 games, he also checks in with 14 goals over his last nine games. The sniper has at least two points in seven of his last 10 matchups. These odds are too nice to pass up and I’d consider the same NHL prop on his winger Mitch Marner who has four multi-point games in his last six matchups. Keep in mind we have a goal total of seven between the Maple Leafs and Senators — two teams that can score but can’t buy a save.

Bonus

  • Mitch Marner O 1.5 Points (+180, DraftKings)
  • Auston Matthews Assist (+100, BetMGM)
  • Josh Norris Point (-140, DraftKings)
  • John Tavares O 3.5 SOG (-122, BetRivers)
  • Claude Giroux, Josh Norris, Brady Tkachuk Points SGP (+225, Bet365)

Rickard Rakell Point

(-105, DraftKings Sportsbook)

Rakell only had four assists through his first 16 games before suffering an injury that kept him sidelined for a month. In three games since his return, the winger has a goal and two points. He played 14 minutes in his first game back, followed by 20 minutes and 19 minutes in his last two games. He scored his first goal of the season in the Pens’ last game, so maybe he’ll start to go on a bit of a run. It’s expected since he’s playing on the top line with Sidney Crosby and Jake Guentzel for the first time all season. Rakell has nine shots on goal in those three games, so the chances have been there. The winger had no puck luck to start the season, which is why he’s nearly even money for a point. Even if he doesn’t hit the scoresheet tonight, have your eyes on him because books have not adjusted for the bump to line one. Rakell had 28 goals and 60 points in 82 games last season, and he’s scored 20-plus goals five times in his career.

Bonus

  • Rickard Rakell O 2.5 SOG (-115, DraftKings)
  • Rickard Rakell Goal (+330, FanDuel)
  • Rickard Rakell First Goal (+2000, FanDuel)
  • Brock Nelson O 2.5 SOG (-145, DraftKings)
  • Bo Horvat O 2.5 SOG (-135, DraftKings)
  • Mathew Barzal & Bo Horvat Points (+100, Bet365)

Jordan Kyrou Point

(-135, DraftKings Sportsbook)

If you’re St. Louis fan, you’re probably wondering if the fan base should have booed Jordan Kyrou weeks ago because he’s been awesome since he broke down to the media a couple of weeks ago. The winger has four goals, eight points and 26 shots in five games since that incident. He’s picked up at least one point in four of his last five games. We’ve seen more shot attempts and more ice time since the coaching change in St. Louis. Not only is he on the first line but he’s on the first power play with Robert Thomas and Pavel Buchnevich, two of the Blues’ best players after Kyrou. The Dallas Stars have played to the over in eight of their last nine games, and the Blues have played to the over in four of their last six.

Bonus

  • Matt Duchene O 2.5 SOG (+105, DraftKings)
  • Joe Pavelski, Roope Hintz, Jason Robertson Points SGP (+180, Bet365)
  • Jordan Kyrou, Robert Thomas, Pavel Buchnevich Points SGP (+260, Bet365)
  • Matt Duchene, Tyler Seguin Points SGP (+160, Bet365)
