The Best NHL Prop Bets
Zach Benson Point
(-110, DraftKings Sportsbook)
Zach Benson impressed me during Buffalo’s three-game road trip. Not only does he have my attention in the NHL betting market, but I also think he’s worth your time in deep fantasy hockey leagues. Benson was promoted to the top line this past week and he looked great alongside Tage Thompson and Alex Tuch. Benson scored two goal goals, picked up an assist and had 10 shots on goal over his past three games. His goals came in Colorado and Vegas. He gets a much easier matchup at home tonight against the Columbus Blue Jackets. Over the last month of the season, the Blue Jackets rank second in shot attempts allowed, first in shots given up and fifth in scoring chances surrendered at 5v5/60, according to Natural Stat Trick. They have the second-highest expected goals against rate over that span as well. The former 13th overall pick from 2023 has enough skill to stick inside the top six, for as long as Jeff Skinner remains sidelined. The Tuch and Thompson same game parlays are touch safer, but I listed the entire line below for those looking for a long shot bet.

- Rasmus Dahlin O 2.5 SOG (-125, BetMGM)

Yegor Chinakhov Point
(+120, DraftKings Sportsbook)
Chinakhov enters Tuesday’s game against the Sabres riding a four-game goal streak. He has five goals, seven points, two power play points and 11 shots on goal over that span. The third-year forward has seen a nice boost in ice time of late and that should continue with Boone Jenner and Patrik Laine sidelined. Chinakhov only averaged 13:35 per game over 13 contests in November. Through eight games in December, Chinakhov has picked up five goals and seven points while playing 16:28. He’s played 19 minutes in back-to-back games and he’s currently skating on the first power play.
Bonus
- Yegor Chinakhov O 2.5 SOG (+140, DraftKings)
- Yegor Chinakhov, Kiril Marchenko Points SGP (+260, Bet365)
Tyler Toffoli Point
(-135, DraftKings Sportsbook)
Toffoli only has one point in his last eight games, but I see this as a buying window. Toffoli’s point prop was -200 this time last week. He’s still skating alongside Jack Hughes who ranks third in the league in points per game with 1.54. Despite the recent slump, Toffoli has 13 goals and 23 points in 29 games. He has 11 points through 14 home games where he averages 18 minutes per game compared to 17 on the road. The Philadelphia Flyers have been impressive this season, but Toffoli was able to score a goal on four shots and he added an assist in a matchup in Philly earlier this season. He should be able to avoid the tight checking of Sean Couturier with this game in New Jersey.
Bonus
- Tyler Toffoli O 2.5 SOG (-135, DraftKings)
- Jack Hughes O 4.5 SOG (+120, DraftKings)
- Jack Hughes O 1.5 Points (+135, DraftKings)
- Jesper Bratt Assist (-115, BetMGM)
Mikko Rantanen Over 1.5 Points
(+110, DraftKings Sportsbook)
Artturi Lehkonen’s dad apparently lit a fire under Mikko Rantanen as he checks in with a four-game point streak. The winger has three goals, eight points and 18 shots on goal over that span. He picked up three points in two of those four games. You don’t need me to tell you that Chicago is awful, but I will anyway. Over the last month, Chicago ranks first in high danger chances allowed, second in scoring chances given up, and second in GA/60 at 5v5. They failed to score in a 4-0 meeting earlier against the Avs.
Bonus
- Mikko Rantanen Assist (-140, BetMGM)
- Valeri Nichushkin O 1.5 Points (+160, DraftKings)
- Valeri Nichushkin Assist (+100, BetMGM)
- Nathan MacKinnon O 4.5 SOG (-117, BetRivers)
