The Best NHL Prop Bets

Josh Norris Over 2.5 SOG

(-115, DraftKings Sportsbook)

A coaching change in St. Louis may turn things around for the Blues, and it may just get Jordan Kyrou going. However, the Blues defensive game won’t turn around overnight. Heading into tonight, the Blues rank sixth in shot attempts allowed and fifth in shots surrendered at 5v5/60, according to Natural Stat Trick. Josh Norris has 13 shots on goal in his last three games and he’s cleared 2.5 shots in five of his past six games. He continues to skate on the first line and first power play. I like his point prop just as much, but it’s a bit more juiced than his shot prop.

Bonus

  • Josh Norris Point (-130, DraftKings)
  • Jordan Kyrou Point (-130, DraftKings)
  • Claude Giroux Assist (+110, DraftKings)
  • Robert Thomas Assist (-105, BetMGM)
  • Jake Neighbours Point (+125, BetMGM)
  • Claude Giroux & Brady Tkachuk Points SPG (+105, Bet365)
  • Jordan Kyrou & Robert Thomas Points SGP (+145, Bet365)

Auston Matthews Over 1.5 Points

(+124, DraftKings Sportsbook)

Matthews is tied with Brock Boeser atop of the leaderboard when it comes to goals with 21. He enters with five goals over a three-game goal streak and has seven goals in his last five games. Matthews has four multi-point games in his last six games, and I’m hoping this trend continues tonight. The sniper has 18 shots on goal in his last three games and 26 in his last five. Columbus will be without their best defensive forward in Boone Jenner, which isn’t ideal considering the Blue Jackets have coughed up 19 goals in their last four games. At 5v5/60, they’ve allowed the third most shot attempts, fourth most shots, sixth most scoring chances and the 10th-most high danger chances. Only the San Jose Sharks have allowed more 5v5 goals/60 than Columbus.

Bonus

Aleksander Barkov Over 2.5 SOG

(-114, BetRivers)

Most NHL shot props are juiced, especially 2.5s. It’s rare to find a No. 1 center at this price. Aleksander Barkov may not get three shots, but the price is too nice to pass up. The veteran has at least three shots on goal in five of his past six games. He’s also picked up four goals and 11 points over his last eight games. He has at least three shots in six of those matchups.

Bonus

  • Aleksander Barkov Assist (+100, BetMGM)
  • Carter Verhaeghe Point (-135, DraftKings)
  • Aleksander Barkov & Sam Reinhart Points SGP (+115, Bet365)
  • Brock Boeser & J.T. Miller Points SGP (+105, Bet365)

Teuvo Teravainen Point

(-110, DraftKings Sportsbook)

The Carolina Hurricanes and Detroit Red Wings matchup in Hockeytown could feature a few goals, so I have my eyes on a couple of NHL props. Over the last month, the Hurricanes have the seventh highest goals against rate at 5v5/60. Over the same time period, Detroit ranks fifth in goals for at 5v5/60. However, they’ve allowed at least four goals in five of their last six games. The closed-door meeting sparked some of the big boys in Carolina’s last game, which resulted in a 4-1 win in Ottawa. Teuvo Teravainen, Sebastian Aho, Martin Necas and Seth Jarvis all hit the score sheet. I like these players to show up again, and they all have pretty decent odds to pick up a point. The Red Wings will be without Dylan Larkin again, but J.T. Compher is set to return and he’ll play on the top line with Alex DeBrincat and Patrick Kane.
