Season Record: 23-14, +8.82 (Bonus not included in record)
I still like my bonus bets even though I don’t include them in the official record. The reason I list three is because I don’t want to confuse anyone with too many picks. The bonus picks last week went 4-1. If you’re looking for more be sure to check out our Pick Tracker.
The Best NHL Props Bets
Alex Tuch Over 2.5 SOG
(-106, BetRivers)
Alex Tuch is on pace to have his best campaign in the NHL in what is his first full season with the Buffalo Sabres. He’s averaging a career-high 18:39 with the Sabres compared to 16:50 with the Vegas Golden Knights in 2020-21. He only logged 2:01 per game on the power play and 45 seconds per game on the penalty kill in that final season with VGK. He’s averaging 3:38 on the PP and 1:29 on the PK with the Sabres. More ice time has resulted in more points as the winger has collected 13 goals and 28 points in 28 games. He’s averaging 2.7 shots per game as a Sabre, and he’s had at least three in seven straight games.
Michael Bunting Over 0.5 Assists
(+112, FanDuel Sportsbook)
I discussed Bunting’s recent run at length on Tuesday’s episode of DBC for those interested (link above). The Maple Leafs are -500 favorites as they enter on a 14-game point streak against a Ducks team that ranks second in GA/60 at 5v5 (3.29). They have a league-high 3.36 xGA/60 against, and they’ve coughed up the most shots, scoring chances and high danger chances at 5v5/60, according to Natural Stat Trick. The Maple Leafs have a history of losing these types of games but they’re going to get their fair share of quality chances with the Ducks playing the second half of a back-to-back on the road. Bunting has points in eight straight games, and he has assists in seven of those contests (nine total). When you play 5v5 with Auston Matthews and William Nylander, you’re going to fall into assists.
Bonus
- Michael Bunting Point (-156, FanDuel Sportsbook)
- Michael Bunting Goal (+260, FanDuel Sportsbook, 0.5 units)
- Michael Bunting Over 2.5 SOG (+154, FanDuel Sportsbook, 0.5 units)
- Rasmus Sandin Power Play Point (+270, FanDuel Sportsbook, 0.25 units)
The point is too rich at -156 to take as a single but a decent throw in for those who like a good parlay or two.
Taylor Hall Over 2.5 SOG
(-114, FanDuel Sportsbook)
Hall has quietly racked up six goals and 12 points in his past 12 games. I say this because Vegas hadn’t adjusted his odds on points and shots and he’s still hanging out on some fantasy hockey waiver wires. The winger is playing his best hockey of the season right now and he’s putting a lot of pucks towards the goal. Hall has at least four shots on goal in each of his past four games (20 total), and he’s had at least three SOG in seven of his past eight contests. The Bruins return home (14-0-1) to face the New York Islanders who rank inside the top 10 shot attempts, high danger chances and scoring chances allowed at 5v5/60. The Bruins just so happen to rank in the top 10 in shot attempts, high danger chances and scoring chances for at 5v5/60.
Bonus
- Taylor Hall Over 0.5 Points (-110, FanDuel Sportsbook)
- Taylor Hall Assist (+194, FanDuel Sportsbook, 0.5 units)
I have more shot props and point props on Tuesday’s episode of Mean Streets
