The Best NHL Prop Bets

Leon Draisaitl Over 1.5 Points

(+100, BetMGM)

The Sharks finally won a hockey game, but they were still heavily outplayed. San Jose only has three points through 12 games, but they’re only two points back of the Oilers, if you can believe it. Edmonton has some strong 5v5 numbers, but they haven’t been scoring and they haven’t been getting any saves, which is an awful combo. They enter tonight having generated the fourth-most shot attempts, third-most shots, third-most scoring chances and the most high danger chances. They have a league-high 3.45 xGF/60, yet they are 24th in goals for at 5v5/60 (2.1). Only the Sharks, Capitals and Kraken have a lower 5v5 shooting percentage than Edmonton (6.2%). You can only keep Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid down for so long. I expect both to break out as the Sharks enter with a -42 goal differential. They are top four in shot attempts, shots, high danger chances and scoring chances allowed at 5v5/60. They also have the highest expected goals rate at 5v5 per hour (3.28). Draisaitl already has five multi-point games this season.

Bonus

  • Connor McDavid O 3.5 SOG (-122, BetRivers)
  • Leon Draisaitl O 3.5 SOG (+125, Bet365)
  • Evan Bouchard Assist (+105, BetMGM)
  • Zach Hyman Assist (+100, BetMGM)
  • Evander Kane O 3.5 SOG (+130, BetRivers)
  • McDavid 2 PTS, Draisaitl 2 PTS, Hyman Point, Bouchard Points (+350, Bet365)
  • McDavid 4 SOG, Draisaitl 4 SOG, Hyman 3 SOG, Bouchard 3 SOG (+900, Bet365)

Quinn Hughes Assist

(-130, BetMGM)

We’ve seen a bit of line movement since this prop was placed in our Bet Tracker, but I still don’t mind the price here. Hughes has 15 assists on the season and 10 in his last four games. We have a goal total of seven for tonight’s Vancouver and Ottawa game, and the Sens could be flat as they played last night in Toronto. Ottawa has surrendered the third-most high danger chances, the fourth-most scoring chances and they have the second-highest expected goals rate at 5v5/60. Ottawa ranks inside the top 10 in penalties taken and the Canucks have the fourth-best power play in the league (32.6%).

Bonus

  • Quinn Hughes O 2.5 SOG (-145, DraftKings)
  • Elias Pettersson Assist (-105, BetMGM)
  • Andrei Kuzmenko Point (-135, DraftKings)
  • Hughes, Pettersson, Miller, Boeser, Kuzmenko Points (+400, Bet365)

Roope Hintz Over 2.5 SOG

(-135, DraftKings Sportsbook)

Hintz is one of our go-to prop players at FTN Bets. The Stars’ sniper has five goals and 11 points in 10 games this season. He’s cleared 2.5 shots on goal in seven of his last nine games, and he’s in a good spot to get a few looks this evening. Only the New York Islanders have allowed more shot attempts at 5v5/60 than the Blue Jackets. Columbus ranks sixth in shots allowed, fifth in scoring chances and seventh in high danger chances, so the Hintz line with Jason Robertson and Joe Pavelski should get some chances.
