The Best NHL Prop Bets

Dylan Guenther Point

(-130, BetMGM)

My favorite Guenther NHL prop is the over on his 2.5 shots on goal. However, the price continues to get steeper as we get closer to puck drop, and for good reason. Guenther had at least three shots on goal in seven of his final nine games last season, and he cleared 2.5 SOG in 17 of his last 25 games.

The winger had an impressive 18 goals and 35 points in 45 games in his sophomore season. He only had 12 points in his first 22 games, but he finished the year with 23 points in his final 23 games. He averaged 3.1 shots per game over that span thanks to a promotion to the first power play.

Chicago has an improved squad, but they’ll still be among the leaders in shot attempts, shots and high-danger chances allowed at 5v5. Only the San Jose Sharks allowed more scoring chances, high-danger chances, and goals at 5v5 than the Blackhawks last season, according to Natural Stat Trick. The value is with the point, especially given his place on the first PP unit.

Bonus

Connor Bedard O 2.5 SOG (-155, Bet365
Dylan Guenther O 2.5 SOG (-150, BetMGM)
Dylan Guenther Goal (+210, DraftKings Sportsbook)
Dylan Guenther Power Play Point (+330, Bet365

Elias Lindholm Point

(+105, BetMGM)

Things didn’t work out for Lindholm in Vancouver because they played him on the wing, and he’s better suited down the middle of the ice. He only had 12 points in 26 games and averaged 17:42 over that span which was his lowest total since his sophomore season in 2014-15. Lindholm ended up playing as the third-line center for the Canucks, which didn’t help his outlook.

The former 42-goal scorer will open up the season on the Bruins’ first line and first power play with David Pastrnak. All Pasta does is score goals (148 in his last three years), so if Lindholm can stay healthy he could register north of 60 points. Pastrnak has 223 points over his last two seasons with Boston.

Bonus

Elias Lindholm Power Play Point (+360, BetMGM)
Sam Reinhart O 2.5 SOG (-150, BetRivers)

Brandon Montour Over 2.5 SOG

(+145, Bet365

Montour is my long-shot bet of the night at +145. I’m excited for Kraken fans to see what Montour can bring to their team, especially on the power play. The former Panther racked 50 power play points in Florida over the last two seasons. He averaged 2.8 shots and 23 minutes per game over that span.

Seattle’s power play won’t be as lethal as the Panthers, but Montour should get a look on the first unit over time, and it could be as early as Tuesday. Regardless, Montour loves to shoot the puck, and his best quality is his aggressiveness to move up in the play. All signs point to the Kraken allowing him to play to his strengths as he scored two goals on nine shots in three preseason games.
