There are seven games on the NHL schedule for Thursday, so there are several NHL prop bets to choose from.

The odds change pretty quickly in the NHL, so take advantage of our Prop Shop for the best possible odds and check out our Pick Tracker for all of my picks.

There’s still time to get in on our Early Bird special, which includes NHL Picks and NBA Picks for the entire season. You’ll get picks from everyone at FTN Network, plus tools, projections and access to Discord, where I’ll discuss every slate.

This is a great night for SGP Point Parlays, so be sure to check out our FTN Bets Tracker for more! With our betting package you get all of our picks across all sports, plus access to our Discord channel and to our projections. Promo code Meaney will get you 10% off all packages at FTN

Be sure to check out Mean Streets for daily picks and Dangle Bet Celly for full NHL breakdowns each Tuesday and Thursday.

The Best NHL Props Bets

Cam Atkinson Over 2.5 SOG

(+100, Bet365)

Cam Atkinson has been one of my favorite players to target for NHL props, especially shot props. Unfortunately, the winger missed all of last season due to a neck injury, but he’s ready to go and he’ll open up the 2023-24 campaign on the Flyers’ first power play. The last time we saw Atkinson in 2021-22, he scored 23 goals and had 215 shots in 73 games (2.9 per game). Atkinson has 20+ goals and 200+ shots in seven of his nine seasons. He scored 41 goals on 295 shots in 2018-19 when he was with the Columbus Blue Jackets. He just so happens to be facing his former team tonight and although they’re improved this season, this was a team we picked on quite a bit last year. The Blue Jackets allowed the second most shot attempts, shots and scoring chances at 5v5/60 in 2022-23. No team allowed more goals at 5v5 than Columbus. Consider Atkinson to score because he shares an NHL record for scoring in six straight season-opening games.

Bonus

Jack Hughes Assist

(+105, BetMGM)

First of all, take a look at the different prices for Jack Hughes’ shot prop in his season debut. Hughes at 4-pllus shots is priced from -135 to -162. We’re not going to get involved with the -162 price tag, but I would still jump all over the -135 and -137 price. In fact, we have him for four shots in our Bet Tracker at a slightly better price.
However, I don’t expect -135 to be around for long so let’s attack Hughes’ assist prop. The superstar forward dished out a career-high 56 assists last season, including 22 on the power play. In what a career season for Hughes and I expect him to build off the 99 points he had in year number four in the league. The Devils are loaded on offense and they’re a team I expect to make some noise in the playoffs.
