The Best NHL Prop Bets

Alex Tuch Point

(-135, DraftKings Sportsbook)

Tuch is pointless over his last four games, but I feel like the Sabres’ top line will get a few chances on Thursday. The Montreal Canadiens return home after a two-week road trip that saw them lose four of seven games. I typically fade teams at home after a lengthy road trip. This is Montreal’s first game at the Bell Centre since Dec. 16. They’ll also be without Christian Dvorak for the rest of the season after he suffered an injury during their road trip. He’s not a great offensive player, but he’s been their “shutdown” center this season and he’s a decent penalty killer. The Habs are still among the leaders in penalties taken, so we could see a few opportunities from the top PP in Buffalo. I also have Tage Thompson for four shots, which is something he’s had in four of his last five games.

Bonus

  • Tage Thompson Point (-150, DraftKings)
  • Jeff Skinner Point (-140, DraftKings)
  • Tage Thompson O 3.5 SOG (+114, DraftKings)
  • Rasmus Dahlin O 2.5 SOG (-157, BetRivers)
  • Mike Matheson O 2.5 SOG (+120, DraftKings)
  • Nick Suzuki & Cole Caufield Points SGP (-110, Bet365)
  • Tage Thompson, Alex Tuch, Jeff Skinner Points SGP (+260, Bet365)
  • Tage Thompson, Alex Tuch, Jeff Skinner 2 Points SGP (+4000, Bet365)

Gabriel Vilardi Over 2.5 SOG

(-106, BetRivers)

It’s been a couple of quiet games in a row for our guy Gabriel Vilardi, so we’re getting a decent price for him to pick up three shots and to get a point. He’s gone four games without a point after scoring a goal in five straight. He’s been held under three shots in three consecutive games, but he had at least three shots in eight straight games before the mini slump. He played in San Jose Dec. 12, and he picked up three shots. Over the last month at 5v5/60, San Jose ranks second in shot attempts allowed and fourth in shots surrendered. Vilardi and Nikolaj Ehlers are strong shot prop targets given the matchup.

UPDATE: WPG mixed up their lines so the same game parlay with Schiefele, Ehlers, and Vilardi is not as strong. I added Namestnikov for a point as he’ll center Ehlers and Vilardi.

Bonus

  • Nikolaj Ehlers O 3.5 SOG (+110, BetRivers)
  • Nino Niederreiter O 2.5 SOG (+130, BetRivers)
  • Gabriel Vilardi Point (-145, DraftKings)
  • Vladislav Namestnikov Point (+115, BetMGM)
  • Mark Scheifele, Nikolaj Ehlers, Gabriel Vilardi Points SGP (+200, Bet365)
  • Mark Scheifele, Nikolaj Ehlers, Gabriel Vilardi 2 Points SGP (+2500, Bet365)
  • Mark Scheifele 2 SOG, Nikolaj Ehlers 3 SOG, Gabriel Vilardi 3 SOG, Nino Niederreiter 2 SOG SGP (+320, Bet365)

Charlie Coyle Point

(-105, DraftKings Sportsbook)

We had Charlie Coyle for a point in Boston’s last game and inside this article Tuesday, and I’d like to go right back to him. The Bruins’ center has points in four straight games (three goals and six points) and he remains a decent price to pick up another. The second line of Brad Marchand, Jake DeBrusk and Coyle have combined for 18 points over the last two weeks. All three players have six points each over that span. As discussed Tuesday and again on Dangle Bet Celly, Coyle is three goals away from matching his 16 he scored last season and five from tying his career high set in 2016. It’s all about opportunity as he’s averaging 17:48 per game, which is a career high for him. He opened up the first month of the season logging 16 minutes per game, but he’s played nearly 19 minutes per game since Dec. 1. He has a cool 15 points in 16 home games, and he’s received more ice time at TD Garden than on the road.

Bonus

Blake Wheeler Point

(+120, DraftKings Sportsbook)

I’m not going to lie to you, Blake Wheeler isn’t someone I’ve bet on much this season, but the matchup is right. The New York Rangers have the highest team implied total as they welcome the Chicago Blackhawks to MSG. Chicago has coughed up 16 goals over a current three-game losing streak. They allowed eight two games ago and they’ve surrendered at least four goals in eight of their last 11 games. No team has allowed more shot attempts, shots or high danger chances at 5v5/60 over the last month, according to Natural Stat Trick. Only the San Jose Sharks have allowed more scoring chances at 5v5/60 than Chicago since Dec. 1. Wheeler is still getting run on the first line in New York and he’s picked up at least one point in seven of his past nine games. That’s not bad considering he only has 15 points on the season. If the point comes, it’ll likely be an assist, which you can get at +190. I have the Rangers winning on the puck line, so hopefully we see a few goals from NYR.

Bonus

  • Blake Wheeler Assist (+190, BetMGM)
  • Vincent Trocheck O 2.5 SOG (-125, BetRivers)
  • Mika Zibanejad & Chris Kreider Point SGP (+105, Bet365)
  • Mika Zibanejad & Chris Kreider 2 Points SGP (+800, Bet365)
