The Best NHL Prop Bets
Wyatt Johnston Point
(+120, DraftKings Sportsbook)
Dallas head coach Peter DeBoer moved Wyatt Johnston to the top line with Roope Hintz and Jason Robertson in the Stars’ latest game in hopes of getting their young player going and it seemed to work. Johnston scored a goal on four shots and added an assist in over 15:59 of ice time. It was the most ice time he’s had over his last six games. Robertson enters with a team-high 45 points and Hintz ranks second with 40 points. Playing with those two players is good for Johnston’s upside and Vegas hasn’t adjusted for the promotion. Not only are we getting good value for a point at +120, but he’s +350 to score and +240 to pick up an assist.
Bonus
- Wyatt Johnston Goal (+350, FanDuel)
- Wyatt Johnston Assist (+240, Bet365)
- Jason Robertson & Roope Hintz Points SGP (+115, Bet365)
- Tyler Seguin, Matt Duchene, Mason Marchment Points SGP (+450, Bet365)
- Dallas Stars Moneyline (-135, DraftKings)
Charlie Coyle Point
(-125, DraftKings Sportsbook)
Charlie Coyle continues to skate on the top line with Brad Marchand and David Pastrnak, so he continues to be on my radar. He has points in back-to-back games, and he’s hit the score sheet in nine of his last 11 games. Coyle has five goals and 11 points over that span. The veteran is averaging a career-high 17:57 this season, and he’s averaging over 18 minutes this month. Colorado has coughed up at least four goals in five of its last eight games.
Bonus
- Jonathan Drouin U 1.5 SOG (+110, Bet365)
Blake Coleman Point
(-115, DraftKings Sportsbook)
The Flames were pretty good to us Tuesday as we hit on NHL point props for Blake Coleman and Nazem Kadri. I’m going right back to Coleman because he’s just too hot to ignore. The winger has points in 16 of his last 19 games and he’s nearly even money for a point against a Maple Leafs team that has lost four straight games. Over this run of 19 games, Coleman has 14 goals and 25 points. He has 20 goals and 38 points in 44 games this season, including 16 in 19 games at home where he’s averaging 17 minutes per game compared to 16 on the road. His 18.9% shooting rate is most likely unsustainable, but he does have multiple 20-goal seasons on the NHL resume. Shoutout to Pontus Holmberg who has six points in his last six games. He picked up two assists in his first game on the top line with Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner, and he played 18:41 in that game.
Bonus
- Mikael Backlund O 2.5 SOG (-139, BetRivers)
- Mikael Backlund Point (-115, DraftKings)
- Yegor Sharangovich Point (-120, DraftKings)
- Pontus Holmberg Goal (+480, FanDuel)
Juraj Slafkovsky Point
(+110, DraftKings Sportsbook)
One more point prop here, and it’s sophomore Juraj Slafkovsky. The winger has goals in back-to-back games and points in five of his last nine games. Those aren’t earth-shattering numbers, but his play has been much better of late since the promotion to the top line with Cole Caufield and Nick Suzuki. Slafkovsky only averaged 14 minutes per game in October and 15 in November. He had one point in his first nine games and just seven in his first 23. He averaged 18 minutes per game in December and he’s playing 19 minutes per game this month, which includes top power play time. Ten of his 17 points this season have come over his last 15 games. Again, those numbers aren’t fantastic, but I’ve noticed a much more confident player and there’s chemistry on the top line. Caufield has goals in three straight games and points in four straight. Ottawa ranks among the leaders in penalties taken and they have a bottom 10 penalty kill. On top of that, the Sens have lost six of seven and they’ve surrendered at least four goals in six of those games. I added Ridly Greig who was recently promoted to the top line as well. He scored twice in Ottawa’s last game and he has five points in his last four games.
Bonus
- Ridly Greig Point (+100, DraftKings)
- Cole Caufield O 3.5 SOG (BetRivers)
- Nick Suzuki Assist (-120, BetMGM)
- Claude Giroux Assist (-110, BetMGM)
- Juraj Slafkovsky Power Play Point (+400, BetMGM)
