Best NHL Props Bets

Brent Burns Point

(-105 DraftKings Sportsbook)

Burns had a very slow start to the season, but he and the Carolina Hurricanes are playing their best hockey of the year. The Hurricanes have racked up five wins in their last six games, and Burns has been a big reason they’re having success. The veteran defenseman has three goals and nine points over those six games. He’s -105 for a point, +150 for an assist and +300 for a power-play point. Burns has six power-play points in his last six and seven over his past nine games. The Anaheim Ducks lead the league with 227 penalties, and the Hurricanes check in with the second-best power play in the league (28.7%). I added Seth Jarvis for three shots below since he has 3+ in five straight games and is on the first PP unit. The Ducks rank seventh in shots allowed at 5v5/60 since Dec. 1, according to Natural Stat Trick.

Bonus

  • Seth Jarvis O 2.5 SOG (-129, BetRivers)
  • Brent Burns Assist (+150, Bet365)
  • Teuvo Teravainen Point (-105, DraftKings)
  • Brent Burns Power Play Point (+300, BetMGM)
  • Andrei Svechnikov & Sebastian Aho Points SGP (-115, Bet365)
  • Svechnikov & Aho 2 Points SGP (+600, Bet365)

Sam Reinhart O 2.5 SOG

(+100, BetRivers)

Sam Reinhart and the Florida Panthers have been so good to us over the past few weeks, it’s really hard to shy away from them, even though they have a matchup against a tough defensive squad in the Los Angeles Kings. The Panthers have won eight straight games, and Reinhart has 11 goals over that span. He checks in riding a four-game goal streak in which he has six goals. The winger has at least three shots on goals in nine straight games, and we’re getting plus money in some spots. I understand the Kings are stringy at 5v5, but Los Angeles has lost six straight games. Reinhart’s center Aleksander Barkov has 33 assists in 37 games, including 15 in his last 10 games. Matthew Tkachuk’s puck luck has turned around, as he’s racked up 14 points over a current six-game point streak, which saw him put up four points in back-to-back games. His winger Carter Verhaghe has 12 points over a current six-game point streak as well. Verhaeghe has six multi-point games over his last eight games. Even if they don’t hit tonight, look to them in their next game. This team is legit!

Bonus

  • Carter Verhaeghe Point (-140, DraftKings)
  • Aleksander Barkov Assist (+100, BetMGM)
  • Matthew Tkachuk Assist (-105, BetMGM)
  • Reinhart & Barkov Points SGP (+120, Bet365)
  • Tkachuk & Verhaeghe Points SGP (+120, Bet365)
  • Adrian Kempe & Anze Kopitar Points SGP (+145, Bet365)

Gabriel Vilardi O 2.5 SOG

(+100, BetRivers)

Vilardi had a four-game stretch where he went pointless and everybody dropped him in season-long fantasy hockey. His price in the NHL betting market also came down. I’d hold onto Vilardi, at least until Kyle Connor returns to the lineup. As for his props, I’m in. Vilardi is still playing on the top line and on the first power play. He has two goals and three points in his past four games and eight goals and 15 points in his last 13 matchups. He’s only cleared 2.5 shots on goal in eight of those games, but he’s in a great spot to put pucks on net tonight. The Blackhawks rank second in shot attempts allowed and third in shots surrendered at 5v5/60 over the last six weeks. Vilardi was held without a point when his Jets played in Chicago on Dec. 27, but he had three shots on goal. Winnipeg enters with a league-best 58 points and has allowed three or fewer goals in 30 straight games. They’re -450 home favorites against a Blackhawks team without Connor Bedard.

Bonus

  • Gabriel Vilardi Point (-140, DraftKings)
  • Cole Perfetti Point (-130, DraftKings)
  • Vilardi, Mark Scheifele, Nikolaj Ehlers Points SGP (+220, Bet365)
  • Vilkari, Scheifele, Ehlers 2 Points SGP (+2200, Bet365)

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins Assist

(-105, BetMGM)

Nugent-Hopkins burned us big time in Edmonton’s last game, but I have no problem going back to him in a game that features a goal total of 7. RNH has 26 helpers on the season, and three have come over his last five games. The winger has 13 assists in his last 15 games, and he continues to skate alongside Connor McDavid who has 42 points in his last 21 games. McDavid has hit the score sheet in 20 of those 21 games by the way. Since Dec. 1 at 5v5/60, Detroit ranks first in shots allowed, fourth in shot attempts allowed, fifth in scoring chances against and seventh in high-danger chances given up. Yeah you guessed it, no team has a higher GA/60 at 5v5 over that span than the Red Wings’ 3.73 mark.

Bonus

  • Connor McDavid O 1.5 Points (+110, DraftKings)
  • Alex DeBrincat Point (-130, DraftKings)
  • McDavid, Nugent-Hopkins, Hyman Points SGP (+125, Bet365)
  • McDavid, Nugent-Hopkins, Hyman 2 Points SGP (+1200, Bet365)
  • Patrick Kane & DeBrincat Points SGP (+155, Bet365)
