NHL DFS value plays for Sunday, August 9

There are three games on the NHL schedule Sunday, and the main slate on both DraftKings and FanDuel starts at 12:30 p.m. ET.

Desperation from the Toronto Maple Leafs and Columbus Blue Jackets should be extremely high, and they all have players who can take over a game. I expect that Sunday, so finding value will be key. The other two games are seeding games. I don’t hate a Washington stack even though the team has looked like it doesn’t want to be there. The Stars are playing pretty well while the Blues are trying to defend their crown.

If you’re new to this article, each day I’ll scan through DraftKings and FanDuel in hopes of finding some mispriced players. Believe me, there are usually a few who stand out as values and some who are just flat out underpriced to start the playoffs.

My strategy usually involves line stacking, but I want my players to get time on the man advantage and you’ll see that throughout these articles. If you have any questions, please hit us up in the Discord chat or contact me directly.

Brayden Schenn and Ryan O'Reilly, C, St. Louis Blues

Both play on scoring lines for the Blues and come in severely underpriced in a game I expect them to dominate against the Stars.

Jaden Schwartz, W, St. Louis Blues

I’m really surprised we have such underpriced Blues after they came out shooting their last game out. I don’t expect total domination, but I expect some sort of attack and these lower priced guys on top lines and power plays are key.

Tom Wilson, W, Washington Capitals

A guy on one of the top offenses in the whole NHL and on the first line with Ovechkin and is only priced $5,000. Where do I sign up? Wilson has struggled since the restart, but I expect the Capitals to show up tomorrow.

Dmitry Orlov, D, Washington Capitals

He will be in every lineup if John Carlson is out. Keep that in the back of your mind. If Carlson is out again, he will run with the big dogs on the top lines and on the power play.
