Tuesday’s NHL best bets will cover the night’s 14-game slate with a scheduled first puck drop at 7 p.m. ET.

With our FTN betting package, you’ll get picks from everyone at FTN, plus tools, projections and access to Discord, where I’ll discuss every slate.

Today’s Best NHL Bets

Winnipeg Jets ML

(+105, Bet365, 2 units to win 2.1 units)

I have no idea how the Jets aren’t favorites at home against the Hurricanes. While the Hurricanes are certainly a good team, they don’t really have the stability that the Jets have shown throughout the season. They are struggling to find consistency from the goaltender position, and that even includes Frederik Andersen, who hasn’t necessarily been playing as well as we expect from him since coming off of IR. On the other hand, Connor Hellebuyck is putting together another Vezina worthy campaign. His 27.22 GSAA is nearly 10 goals saved more than No. 2 on the list — Logan Thompson of the Capitals, who has a 17.83 GSAA. On top of that, the Jets are currently in peak form, having won each of their last six games, including big wins against the Avalanche, Bruins, and Capitals on the road.

NY Islanders ML

(+128, BetRivers)

NY Islanders -1.5 Alt. Puck Line

(+250, BetMGM, 0.5 units to win 1.25 units)

The Islanders have been carried by stellar goaltending from Ilya Sorokin. Since New Year’s Day, Sorokin has accumulated 8.04 GSAA, second behind the Kings’ Darcy Kuemper. This amazing run includes six straight wins, including huge victories over the Hurricanes, Avalanche and Lightning. It’s understandable why the Islanders are underdogs against the Golden Knights, but I think this line should be more of a coin flip considering the Islanders generally have matched up very well against Vegas, and because the Islanders are going to be starting the better goaltender. I wouldn’t even be surprised if the Golden Knights end up starting Ilya Samsonov, which would be a huge mistake. Samsonov’s -4.16 GSAA since Jan. 1 is the seventh worst in the NHL. It shouldn’t be too surprising that Samsonov’s record is less than .500 given the terrible numbers he has been putting up. I like the Islanders straight up, but I’m also interested in throwing a little wager on the alternate puck line in case the Vegas goaltending woes continue.
