Today’s Best NHL Bets
Columbus Blue Jackets ML

Things just didn’t work out Tuesday when we took the Blue Jackets against the Lightning, but don’t let the scoreboard mislead you — they played well enough to win (expected goals for both teams were 2.9 to 2.9) but were let down mightily by goaltender Elvis Merzlikins. The Blue Jackets have been played consistently well this season, and they are getting healthier. While the acquisition of Seth Jones undoubtedly makes them a better team, I still question if they’re going to be able to make much of a run come playoff time without Matthew Tkachuk. This line is completely out of whack, and we’re going to take a stab at the Blue Jackets moneyline at an insane value.
Calgary/Dallas Over 6
(-105, Bet365/BetMGM/Caesars, 2.1 units to win 2 units)
Not sure why it’s happening, but both of these teams have been very leaky defensively since the break. The saving grace for the Stars is the fact that their offense is going bonkers right now. They’ve scored four goals or more in each of their six games played since the midseason break. If it wasn’t for their impeccable offense, all eyes would be focused on their terrible 68.22% Corsi against per 60, second worst since the break. Calgary has also struggled with possession in 5v5 play and is still trying to find their footing with their new lineup after swapping forward duos with the Flyers. They are allowing roughly 13 high-danger shots per game at 5v5 play since the break, fourth highest in the NHL. The underlying numbers suggest this game should be another higher-scoring affair, so we are going to take the over 6 goals to win 2 units.
