Today’s Best NHL Bets

San Jose Sharks ML

+170, /

San Jose Sharks Alternate Puck Line -1.5

+340, bet365, 0.5 units to win 1.7 units

The Sharks are coming off a big win at home against the Penguins and go on a quick one-game road trip to Seattle to face the Kraken. This will be a huge game for them because they are on their dad’s trip and have been around their dads since that big win over the Penguins on Monday. They don’t play again until Tuesday, so it’s a lock that they’re going to go all out to win this game. Going all out also requires them to play their best goaltender, and that’s Yaroslav Askarov.

Askarov is already confirmed to start, so there aren’t going to be any shenanigans that’ll lead to us having to depend on one of the worst goalies in the NHL if he sits. As for the Kraken, I don’t necessarily dislike the way they’re playing, and I definitely approve of their top goaltender, Joey Daccord, but they are going to be playing their third game in four nights. That’s never an easy task, and especially so when it includes the elite Oilers and the young and fast Ducks. We’ve had some success with these alternate puck lines lately, and we’ll give it another shot tonight with the Sharks.

NY Islanders ML

-110, bet365///, 2.2 units to win 2 units

The Islanders are coming off a huge win against the Avalanche and face a Flyers team that got pummeled last night against the Devils. I anticipate the Flyers rolling out their backup goalie, Ivan Fedotov, and I also anticipate the Islanders continuing to start Ilya Sorokin, who has been phenomenal lately. Sorokin’s 5.13 GSAA is the fourth-best in the NHL in the month of January.

His stellar play against the Avalanche was able to turn four expected Colorado goals into just two. Additionally, the Flyers are likely going to be without Owen Tippett, who got destroyed by an open ice hit from Brenden Dillon last night. The loss of Tippett is significant from a scoring standpoint but also in terms of physicality, as the team’s remaining top scorers are Travis Konecny and Matvei Michkov, who are both very undersized per NHL standards.
