Today’s Best NHL Bets

Vancouver Canucks ML

In their more recent meetings, including last year’s Stanley Cup Playoffs, the Canucks have played the Oilers extremely hard, and that includes a big win roughly two weeks ago in Vancouver. They are also getting healthier, with both Quinn Hughes and Filip Hronek back and eating up a ton of minutes at the blue line that were given to Carson Soucy out of necessity. In contrast, the Oilers are going to be without Connor McDavid for Thursday’s game as well as their upcoming game against the Sabres Saturday due to a 3-game suspension. The Oilers actually played extremely well Tuesday against the Capitals, but were completely stifled by Logan Thompson. Nevertheless, their margin for error with McDavid unavailable is going to be mighty small, and I think the odds makers aren’t giving the Canucks enough credit.

Carolina Hurricanes -1.5

The Blue Jackets are coming off of an emotional upset win Wednesday night in Toronto. Most notably, Adam Fantilli had a game he’ll never forget, scoring a hat trick in front of all of his family in friends traveling from throughout Ontario. They’re going to be in for another tough matchup against a Hurricanes team that is slowly rounding into form, and will be looking to their No. 1 goaltender, Frederik Andersen, to help guide them to the top of the Eastern Conference. They have always been one of the best teams in the league at home and should be able to put away a Blue Jackets team that will likely be rolling out their backup goalie, Daniil Tarasov, and playing their third game in four nights.
