Yahoo NFL DFS Picks – Week 2

Finding the best anchors for your DFS lineup is the best way to start lineup construction, so each week in this space, I’ll be taking a look at a skill-position breakdown of players who stick out on Yahoo. Whether it’s because of matchup or usage or anything else, these are players who should feature heavily in lineups.

Quarterbacks | Yahoo Week 2 picks

Jalen Hurts is still mispriced in Week 2

($26, vs. San Francisco 49ers)

Jalen Hurts showed the fantasy believers they were right and any of the doubters they were off base with a scintillating Week 1 performance. And while he didn’t necessarily air things out (3.7 air yards per target), he was a major fantasy asset on the ground — the Konami code of fantasy football. In Week 1, Jared Goff sliced up a 49ers defense that is now missing Jason Verrett, so there’s no reason Hurts should be the 18th-most expensive QB on Yahoo.

Consider Justin Herbert for some elite production

($33, vs. Dallas Cowboys)

There are so many reasons to believe this game will be a shootout. Per the FTN Daily pace tool, the Cowboys led the league in situation-neutral pace a season ago, so there’s reason to believe this thing won’t be moving quickly. Justin Herbert was outstanding in a Week 1 road win over a stout Washington Football Team defense, passing 47 times for 337 yards. Tom Brady attempted 50 passes a week ago, and he torched this secondary the entire contest. Had Mike Williams not dropped an easy TD pass, his line last week would have been even better.

Running back | Yahoo Week 2 picks

Spend up on Yahoo for Nick Chubb

($34, vs. Houston Texans)

Yes, the Texans were a surprise last week, but don’t get it twisted — that team stinks. In a half-point-per-reception format like Yahoo, Nick Chubb carries some extreme value in these formats. Let’s not forget that a season ago, Houston gave up the most touchdowns and rushing yards to opposing running backs, and as 12.5-point favorites, there should be plenty of opportunities for Chubb to crush.

Joe Mixon remains undervalued in Week 2

($24, at Chicago)

One of those guys that consistently seems to fly under the radar, what exactly are we waiting for on Joe Mixon? To be RB1? Well, if that’s truly the virtual signaling that you need to believe, you may get it this week. Mixon is the undisputed work horse back in Cincy — he logged 33 touches a week ago for a whopping 150 all-purpose yards, and Chicago isn’t exactly a fantasy stalwart. Spend up happily.

Wide receiver | Yahoo Week 2 picks

Don’t ignore Calvin Ridley after a tough opening week

($28, at Tampa Bay)

The Tampa Bay defense is very good; make no bones about it. But let’s also dive into the numbers from the Dallas attack a week ago — Dak Prescott attacked the boundary corners, firing a combined 31 targets to Amari Cooper and CeeDee Lamb. They caught 20 passes for 243 yards and three scores, so there’s clearly some juice there. Ridley recorded a 51% air yards share last week, so expect him to put up some solid numbers.

CeeDee Lamb is ready to go off

($23, at Los Angeles Chargers)

There’s no other way to describe the first week performance — CeeDee Lamb was ballin’. He saw 15 targets last week, and Michael Gallup (Seven targets) is now on IR. He clearly seems underpriced for a guy that could easily crack the top-10, but he’s not viewed that way — if the ‘Boys are playing catchup again, expect Lamb to put up big numbers.

Tight end | Yahoo Week 2 picks

Tyler Higbee is a major value at tight end

($16, at Indianapolis)

If you want to break the slate this week, Tyler Higbee could be the guy you need to focus on. It’s no secret veteran signal-caller Matthew Staford loves tight ends and engages them as a focal point of the offense — a year ago, T.J. Hockenson was second in targets (102), racking up a 17.5% target market share. Last week, with Gerald Everett now in Seattle, Higbee recorded a 100% snap share and the second-most targets in a blowout victory. He should be a major play to consider.
